I own a HRX217VKA SN 2334434. My wife uses mostly and cuts an acre of grass and I cut 3 acres with my Scag Turf Tiger. A couple of weeks ago I discovered it had a transmission.. I have not torn it down yet but I purchased a new tranny for $150. I wish I would have known the Tranny was there and needed to be serviced once in awhile.. What I don't like it how much I have to tear it down to get to it... when the tranny went out she pushed it into my shop and was pissed. She told me it started smoking on her. It was the belt burning through on the tranny pulley.. or the engine. I have purchased all the tune up parts off of Amazon.. I got the free deliver program.. and get Amazon packages pretty much daily. Any way your should warn people about the Tranny and how to service it before the fluid degrades.. 😵‍💫

Is a blue sticker the same as the green sticker?

I bought my Honda lawn mower through Amazon, and instead of a green dot sticker, mine came with a blue dot. Does that mean that that crankshaft was fixed too?

They are only done manufacturing gas powered lawn mowers for North America. They just launched their electric mowers, they are EXPENSIVE!!

Got my hrx two years ago I don’t know if mine is recalled or not ain’t looking either . This thing is my pride and joy even if it locks up and breaks my wrist I will stay in my last day it’s my favorite mower I ever used . It just cuts my lawn perfectly

I went into a Honda dealer today just to test the waters, and the salesman told me he had not heard of any recalls. He also told me there was no need to change oil in the beginning like you showed in a video, and I just did not trust that guy. I just got the vibe that he was nothing but a seller trying to tell me what he thought I wanted to hear(which is always the opposite of what I want to hear).

At least they have no issues ordering new gasoline lawnmowers from Honda in my country, so I'll check back in next season when I'm ready to purchase one. I'll just check that the version I get is ok before I buy it.

Not all HRN will have a green dot. I purchased from Home Depot in Oct 2024. Typed the SN# on Honda web site and it is ok, no green dot needed. It was not affected. 😄

Decades long of making engine components for this newer mower engine and the older mower engines, all the sudden switching to ATVs it's like losing a piece of history of all those memories and the fun of making that perfect product

Just picked up a new HYA for $699 today at the DIYorangeshithole and yes it was hard to find one in stock. They are dumping them now! I can confirm the sealed box had the green dot, but there is not a punch mark on the crank case. One quick check with the engine serial number and it's not on the list. Looks like Honda finally sorted this mess out. After break in, did you switch over to full synthetic? I'm thinking oil change after 30mins, run 5hrs on conventional, then switch to 10w-30 synthetic and change every 25hrs/ 6months. With a steady diet of avgas, it should outlast the 1985 craftsman tractor I've been abusing for the last 15years!

hello, I'm here again, while I was looking at Honda lawnmowers, I saw that leaking oil errors occur with several lawnmowers (not all of them), I don't know how common this is, but I'm very confused. problem with honda? does anyone know anything about this?

Just bought one yesterday (still in the box) from a person who had picked up a couple of them from a liquidation sale. I did the unpacking and followed your break-in procedure. I'm very happy with it compared to my old Sears Craftsman mower with a flathead Tecumseh engine which I had for about 32 years.

Bought mine for $400 ($100 off for signing up for a Lowes card...) Honda is the best.

I just bought a new HRN216VYA with the throttle lever and blade clutch from ACME Tool online, After watching the fist 5 minutes of this video I went and looked at the box and my mower box has a round blue sticker right where the one in your video has a green one. Do you know if the blue means its been checked since its a different model # than the one you showed in the video? Or does it mean something else. Any Idea ? Thankyou

I just bought a HRX217 GCV 200 with only 3 cuts and the man that bought it was TOO TALL. For it . He sold it to me for 375 BUCKS!!! I am one happy camper. I owned that 530 dollar toro with personal pace for 4 years that was absolutely KILLING me. This Honda just blows Toro OUT of the park!! Never broke a sweat when I used the Honda. Not even a sweat. That toro would murder me. That personal pace SUCKS IMHO.

Hi , I have an HRX217 , checked the serial number and indeed it’s under the recall for camshaft. I’ve had it for 3 years and always dealt with pulling the rope it would get stuck and almost take my arm out .. Thanks to your video I realized there’s a recall. I called a local Honda lawn mower dealer and they said it’s free the recall if I have the original receipt from Home Depot??? I told them I don’t have it anymore and they don’t want to do it?? Are they being fair ?

Hi. I have an 11 year old Honda HRR with the GV160 engine and still runs good. Do you think this HRN is a worthy upgrade when it comes to power for getting thru taller grass…read the specs and see it has an 18% increase in torque but not sure if that’s a huge deal. Thank you.

Just recently heard of the camshaft issue and have a new HRN 216 that I threw the box away when I bought around mid year 2023 and currently sitting in my living room. Don't know if it had a dot on the box and there's no punch mark on the serial tag. So I got nervous and just checked the serial # and starts with 2489 so looks like I'm safe. So relieved, thanks for this information JB. 👍

What if it has a green dot on the engine next to the serial number and the serial number is not part of the recall? Looking at a used one and am hoping it's ok

They cheap out on the latest HRN: no more bearings on wheels, the front plastic deck extension is cheap. Too expensive for what you get, even if you get a good engine. The older HRS2166PKC had bearings on the back wheels and no plastic front.
