The thing Hector loves the most is the sensation of being feared. He's so insecure and childish that he can't hold himself of acting like a bully so he can people respects him. That's why it wasn't an issue for Gus to eventually take him out of bussiness.

I really like the comparison of Nacho with his dad to Mike and his son. Mike convinced his son to take a bribe from crooked police officers. But the officers didn't trust him, so they killed him. Nacho convinces his father to take a bribe from Hector. But Hector doesn't trust him. In either case, like Mike said, I think this is the one person (Mike or Nacho in each case) that could get him to debase himself (Matty or Nacho's dad) and take the money.

The way Hector spread the money out, so that Nacho's father could see "all the money he'd make" visually, felt extremely condescending as well.

The bell in the counter is an incredible piece of foreshadowing.

This is probably one of Hector's greatest blunders, threatening Nacho's father would lead his ultimate downfall. As he said himself "Family matters most".

I think the title is the other way around

It's a sad scene, tbh nacho really cares for his dad (unlike most cartel members who dont even have the privilege of having a rolemodel let alone a parent) and Hector knows that's, so he's using it against him to pressure him. Would love to have seen what would have happened if he just accepted the money... it would be a different scene.

Does anyone know if it was intentional for Mike and Nacho’s stories to align in terms of family? Mike getting his son take dirty money and getting him killed where Nacho got his dad take dirty money and it was going to get him killed until Nacho sacrificed his life

Why would nacho offer up his dads business as a place to process drugs?

- Be a cartel don, your crew is mostly a legacy member used for muscle. Preach loyalty to family n shit.
- Have an inner circle of loyal, effective enforcers
- Need more distribution centers for your product
- Buy an ice cream shop, problem solved
- Actually, one of your best enforcers' dad owns a business. You want this one too.
- Enforcer says its a bad idea because his dad is a straight arrow that will never stand for our business
- Attempt to buy him out, he tells you to fuck off
- Tell your enforcer that you're gonna kill his dad because he said mean words to you
- your enforcer cripples you for life

I realize this actually parallels Mike forcing his son to take the money which leads to his son getting killed. Nacho and his father is essentially the opposite outcome but still very similar.

Nacho is a complex character. At the outset, yes, he's a criminal and there's no way around that. But he's not evil to the core or anything and if he had everything to do over again, I think there's at least a chance he would have chosen a different path. But by this point, he was in WAY too deep and that was it.

If anything else, that payoff from Hector looked pitiful. Maybe that's the reason for Papi's derision - being lowballed from a heavy hitting cartel guy with untold millions

Things could have been different if Nacho's father said "Don Hector, money is ok but I don't care about them really. All I care about is my son's safety... for me, family is everything."

I still think Nacho could have avoided the situation that his father will never do it .....period ....what Hector could have done ? Beat Nacho badly ? Kill Nacho ? Don't think so ....but atleast it would be quick death
