Create 3D Text Emblems with Affinity Designer 2.0

Nick, do you know of any effect that I could use to give the Embroidery effect to images? I have heard that Photoshop has it. I wished AD did.

I tried to replicate this design step by step as a learning step. Towards the end when you duplicate it and drag it out of the white page you are able to see the design; when I try to drag it out all I see is is a blue stroke (no white or black). What am I doing wrong?

My affinity designer does not have a warp group.

This is a cool tutorial, but I am still disappointed the developers ditched 'Instant 3D' which was so quick, simple, flexible and useful in the legacy software.

I just spent the last hour and a half to do something like this on Affinity Photo V2. Several features either dont exist on photo or have a whole different process to find the same tool. I finally got my design looking like what you have, and though it wasn't done in the exact same way, I am very proud that it looks pretty much identical to what you have. I need to invest in the vector version of affinity hahahah

WOW, this was awesome. I know if I had to try it myself it would take a long time but you certainly showed all the steps and gave explanation so I'm sure I could do it.

I'm new to Affinity and was actually searching if it's possible to have text (not hand lettering) follow grids. If so, would this be in your Masterclass?

I just recently gave up on Adobe, and bought the full Affinity suite. is there no 3D extrude type of tool in affinity to create the "extruded" effect?

I've had Affinity for yeeeeears but seldom use it but I figured I needed to do something with it on a recent gig I had and this video helped me so much to nail what I wanted to do.

I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to find Convert To Curves. Turns out I need to go from designer to pixel persona :D And moving back to designer brought it back. Weird.

When clicking Convert to Curves on the Arc warp effect, it doesn't look the same as when the effect was live. If you look closely, most of the curved lines get set back to straight ones. (Although in this video it looks fine, mine is v2.5.5). It's causing issues later on when applying the miter contour, as the contours for each letter overlap and stick out because they're not following a curve.
EDIT: Turns out there are a lot of bugs with warping in version 2.5 onwards. A post said to use 2.4.2, so I did, and now it all works fine, things curve as they should. (And I thought switching from Inkscape would mean less bugs!)

10 minutes to do something that you can do in 1 with Illustrator, while keeping the text editable… and it even looks bad

Come on Serif. Bring us some real 3D Vector Tools.

I’m not a designer, yet I learned a lot from this video (text, shapes, vector objects/curves, groups, nodes, grouping, outlines, layer effects, warps, etc.). Hope I can learn some more from the Masterclass. Thanks Nick for such good work teaching this stuff!
