AR15 Handguards (3 of 8): Free Floating

Hey, what is the AR that he shows first as "mid-length", the one with the rail along the entire upper?

so in order to have my top "t" rail completly flat with no breaks i have to get a free floater?

Drew: look at Daniel defense rails, they have some that lock into the delta ring but have a section on top that makes the top rail completely flat with no break in rail section

you guys are awesome you've really made this process easier for myself (new to building guns)

are there ar handguards that are threaded on instead of using the delta clip (i think that's what you called it) I'm getting a paintball barrel that has an adapter that says its compatible with AR 1 7/8 - 20 threads (I believe that's what it is) is there a way i could attach handgaurds that need the delta clip to that?

Nice vid. Now my interest is piqued in the Magpul MOE hand guard, hearing that rails can be mounted to it. Will it accomodate more than one rail though? As in, in positions other than the bottom?

I bought a midwest industries mctar 17g2 carbine lenght, i very like the fit and look of this rail but should i worry about precision since its a non freefloat! Here in canada freefloat rail were kinda hard to find. Thanks

YES, if go on ebay, see Magpul moe stock, but its not for stock, its for three rails, bottom(long), and two sides (shorter), run ya $20, just throught i'd help a fellow American..lol, good day man

I working on my first AR build and what im trying to achieve is basically the same rifle you have on the table almost in the middle. I want a 16" barrel with a free float rail that extends almost the same length as the barrel and also sits flush against the upper as well as the rails meeting. What is a good budget free float hand guard that fits that description? Thanks.

Did not even begin to scratch the surface of free-floated rail options ! ? ... So ... The reason I bothered to watch this vid is because I am planning to build an 18" mid-weight barreled (maybe fluted with a Wylde chamber) ... I am thinking a Troy Alpha type rail and am really clueless how to source the proper parts and to do this build right. No help from THIS video, sadly.

even a 14.5in can be both mid and carbine. It's how long the gas system is, not the barrel.

Im looking to build my first AR15. I would like to free float it just past the gas block on carbine length 16" barrel how long of a hand guard would i need

Midlength (or carbine, rifle length) refers to the length of the gas system.

you just clarified what i couldn't figure out carbine mid length.... thanks ...so much..now imma buy my easy install rail.. palmetto ar

great videos, but they gave me a migraine from the super distorted aspect ratio that you stretch it to. the barrels look like they're each 1.5" long if they are vertical and 18" long horizontally.

whats the rule of thumb tho ? If i have a mid-length barrel can I mount a carbine handguard or vice versa or is it set in stone your barrel determines what size handguard you can mount?
