Many wonderful memories! I had the privelege of directing Brigitte Fassbaender in her first role of Octavian with Lucia Popp as Sophie and Sena Jurinac as the Feldmarchallin in 1971 with Josef Krips conducting at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
As acclaimed as this is, what I don't get is why does the tempo suddenly picks up just before the climax. The score does not have such an indication.
POR SIEMPRE LUCIA POPPOVA.
Richard Strauss is veritably a genious
Ответить...vocal splendor rarely equaled...
Ответитьhow beautifull is my gwyneth !!!!!!
Superbe!!!
Some special singers!
They cut off the very end!
Una versión inigualada.
Murakami brought me here and I don't regret it
Can hardly believe Jones could control the wobble here. What happened to her?
What the hell just happened? There was an ad right in the middle of the post, at the very end of the trio!!!!!!!!!
Then, the scene cuts off abruptly at the end when there is only about two minutes left. How can you end it like that?
We have lost it in out ability to truly appreciate and experience great art...sad...
The best version of the scene, by the way, which is why I'm outraged by this treatment.
I'm speechless. These three fantastic singers, with such fine conductor, performing this beautiful scene...
Glorious. I had goosebumps throughout. We miss you so much Miss Popp. The emotion is palpable, especially with Miss Fassbaender, who although she loves Sophia, still cares very much for the Feldmarchallin.
Gwyneth Jones beyond amazing showing how lyric singers can push and push and yet her notes were heard 100% through it all, even when she just sang and never pushed, EVEN WHEN Her notes were lower in range they still were heard. AMAZING!!!
Gwyneth Jones is so beautiful here.
Plus beau est strictement impossible. Quel génie de la musique, quel mélodiste. Pure merveille.
Et encore du sublime!
Rare homogénéité des voix
The great Dame Gwyneth Jones is magnificent in this role. Brigitte Fassbaender and Lucia Popp are also superb.
What a treat. Didn't know Gwyneth sang this so beautifully!
Popp is a dream as Sophie. And foghorn Jones as usual. You like her or you don´t :-)
Indescribable. Wow. This is artistry of the highest level
Un pezzo straordinario
La piu' grande Marescialla della nostra epoca!
Why the abrupt cutoff at the end?
Me fascina...así de simple.
I cannot imagine a better feast for the ears and eyes with these three beautiful singers, in this gorgeous production, under the baton of the one and only Carlos Kleiber. I don’t even consider myself a great fan of this opera but these four artists make me enjoy it!
Show the damn clip to THE END!
Always surprised, how much Strauss was influenced by Humperdinck.
The lowest volume notes of Gwyneth Jones were strongest and her crescendo was EXTRAORDINARY.
Proof that Dame Gwyneth could sing a ravishing pianissimo!
Where's the end?
I'm covered in goose-bumps!
Göttlich!
So beautiful !
WOW ❤ First it was that Pur ti Miro with Vickers now this seals it: I understand now when people say Jones could be completely different night to night. The idea that she was probably still singing revivals of Chereau’s ring at this point boggles the mind…That opening of the trio was indescribably beautiful, delicate and the climax fully supported where others have to struggle ❤️ brava 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I was expecting to enjoy Popp the most 🤷🏽♂️ I take it Fassbaender was a brilliant actor, but wasn’t expecting that projection 👏🏽
Brillante Stimmen von Popp und Fassbaender - wunderschön
Only wonderful!
JODER........................! Sin más .....l.
