You MUST hear "46&2". Maynard's lyrics, quite often, are generally about growth and progression...or he's just singing about his penis or anal sex. Either way nearly every lyric is or can be taken as a double entendre. A good example of this is their song, "Pushit." Spiral out, keep going.

The talk about Saturn ascending is a reference to astrology. Saturn ascending through your astrological sign signifies a time of growth and change. It does so every 29.5 years. Seems pretty accurate, no one is the same person they were 30 years ago.

I think the tidiest way to conceptualize the time signature at that particular point in the song would be 10/8, but I personally FEEL it as a bar of 6/8 plus a bar of (what I’d argue is) 4/8 even though I know some of my fellow music school peeps might take issue with that.

Yes! In a sort of subtle and collected way, I found "primal" to be the best quick summary of their style; they do seem intent on bringing a kind of all-round human-ness to hard rock, by constantly incorporating elements from either foreign cultures or older times; there's a lot going on - and indeed, a "primal" vibe is often the red thread, without it being overpowering or anything.
