President Johnson's major policy failure was no doubt the Vietnam War. But I would argue his second largest was the Student Loan program.

It’s been said that only 40% graduate from college and many don’t work within their degree is there a good way to to determine who’s more likely for a lack of a better wast time and money especially where a long term debt can be incurred?

Local Community Colleges are wonderful. Here in Austin, TX we have a fantastic CC that is a true community partner and asset.

I'd be inclined to give equal amounts to each of the two daughters. Unequal amounts can lead to resentment later even if all agree today. Put sibling harmony first, even if the distribution is "unfair."

In the past 2 months I have had 2 different young people nearly hit my car causing me to slam on my breaks. They both stared at me coldly while they were chewing on food. One actually casually took a bite out of an apple. Dead eyes on both. Really scary. Another friend had a young person turn left infront of her as she was driving down the street. He totalled her car. I don’t know what’s going on with these young people but it’s frightening.

We sent copies of our wills to all 4 of our kids so there "shouldn't" be any questions.

My will faced the same situation with two children. I decided to divide my assets 60/40. My children have been informed and are fine with my decision.

I don't know why Americans think America is the greatest country on earth unless it's because we have the largest military. There are a great many other ways that we are not, ways that are so very important like privacy and protection against harmful environmental elements. When there was lead in common house paint many European countries banned it starting as early as 1901 and 1940 and the European Union in 2003. The Us didn't ban it until 1979. Most developed countries have had universal health care for decades; not the US. We are behind in a whole host of things that the rest of the world takes for granted as essential to their own people. The US only protects and enhances Big Business because it bribes our politicians to do their own bidding for their own benefit. We, the people, are not a factor any more other than our vote.

I absolutely disagree with telling family who will get the money and who won’t. It negatively affects all the relationships (with the siblings and parents). Also, things can change at any moment. With divorce rates being so high it’s not uncommon to see women go from stability to destitute in a few short years. Also, let’s be real, the child to get the bulk of the inheritance is almost always the one who had the easiest ride anyways. Why do the irresponsible kids who are constantly sponging off the parents retirement get another leg up?

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who first suggested the compromise of a House of Representatives and a Congress. My favorite Founding Father!

Instead of a college degree $$$$$, look for a skilled trade, certification, licensing, internships for a career. I know tons of people who wasted large sums of money at a college for a major/degree they never finished. Law, medical, veterinarian, skilled trades. 😮

BonusTerm "401k millionaire effect" - It's great
That so many folks have been Super savers at their jobs but..... that also means that they can quit whenever they want. So... One more reason for the labor shortage.

Don't pass your assets in a will anymore. For each bank account and every brokerage account, IRA, Roth, etc. name a sole beneficiary, or multiple beneficiaries. Or TOD (transfer on death). Tell each child of the account but NOT the amount in it, or the amount or their percentage. When you die, they will contact the institution which will transfer the appropriate assets to them. The bank/broker will NOT tell any of them what the others (if any) are getting.

I agree, do not tell any of the kids what they will be getting. It is none of their business until you die and THEN and only then is it their money.

#1 best route is dual enrollment (which is typically free) and the local community college. The CC in my town is FREE tuition for all local high school grads, funded by donations. Staying home those first years lets you work a part time job, piling up cash. It is not necessary to go $100K in debt those first two years. Going into massive debt for college is a DECISION, not a requirement. Step 2: Pick a major that has a lucrative career path upon graduation. The old saying "do what you love" is a MYTH. I love music, I just have one problem: no talent. Focus on an area where you have talent that has a nice career path. I see people say: "I can't pay off my loans I acquired to get my degree in social work as the pay is so low. What were people making in that field when you picked that major? Did it suddenly drop? No, it's always been low pay.
