Cool! I got some SEAS speakers from my granddad and i think they are about the same age as these. The Seas tweeter is lovely! and the 8.5 inch woofer has extreme xmax it seems :P

Love old 3 way floor standing speakers, they have a certain charm to them i think, nowadays they're all thin with 5inch drivers..

I recently got a pair of Sony APMs with the flat square drivers. Would be fun to test them next to each other :-)

These are real common here in the US. I had some smaller metal honey comb speakers w/ the same tweeter

god damn those things have WAY to much perceived value in them just screaming 80s garbage i wonder if Technics ever did put money into those speakers or if it was at the time where they didnt care.

I'm listening to this sound quality test on my own SB-X300's and I gotta say they sound pretty good.

i'm having a problem with the overload protector board on the front...
when playing at normal volume the tweeter makes crackling noises and randomly shuts off but the volume is not even loud. it happens with the both speakers... the only thing i hear is the Bass driver and the midrange driver. When pushing the protector button for a while it stops and it works good again but after a while it starts giving crackling noises from the tweeter...

Did you manage to find replacement foam? I have the same issue with mine. If so where did you find it?

I have sb-500x. This speaker work perfectly in amplifier analog. With audio digital is not a better choice.

Very well maintained usually this kind of speaker don't last anyway I think Japanese speaker brand yamaha NS 1000m is best in the 80s toward 90s
