The Salafi mosque, located in the residential district of "Airport" of the city of Derbent, has completely burned down in a fire which occurred at night of March 17. Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjirasul Guseinov, the Imam of the mosque, was detained yet on February 9. After that, believers began to hold actions of protest and demanded to stop persecuting the Imam. A month ago, the power and gas supply to the mosque was cut off; however, the believers continued to gather at the mosque and illuminated the building with the help of a generator. Law enforcers have locked the mosque four days before the fire. Local residents also report that, despite the calls to the city fire department, no one came to extinguish the fire. According to the spokesperson for the Dagestani Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), "neither the control room nor the fire department received any calls on the incident." A video record from the fire place is provided to the "Caucasian Knot" by one of the believers of the mosque.
