Just had a look at the ABAC Vs the Hyundai, the ABAC has max pressure of 9 bar, the Hyundai only has 7 bar, I'd prefer to have 230l at 9 bar of the ABAC, than 300l at 7 bar of the Hyundai, as I'm not likely to need to go above 200l bit the extra 2 bar would definitely come in useful. I say this as an owner of Hyundai welding equipment that I'm very happy with.

Worth noting that the 'Silent' model is called the ABAC MONTECARLO OS20P UK - 2HP 50L SILENT AIR COMPRESSOR & the non silent model is called the ABAC MONTECARLO O20P DIRECT DRIVE OIL-LESS 2HP 50 LITRE AIR COMPRESSOR. They appear & are named very similarly. This I didn't realise so ordered the non-silent model in error. Any easy mistake to make to the uninitiated, but the quality of the unit is certainly very impressive, although mine was delivered without any front rubber feet. The dB rating is louder than my old slightly smaller AirMaster compressor & am after the quieter model so will return it. Also with noting it connects using the Euro coupling as opposed to 1/2” BSP (not surprising since it’s an Italian brand).

I'm looking at the Hyundai myself (50ltr twin pump). I noticed they are a bit misleading on the specs. Looking at the spec sheet it states Air Displacement as 10 CFM, and air flow in brackets as 7 CFM, the latter being much more realistic, I'm sure you'll agree. This seems to be quite common to see piston (or diaphragm) displacement specified separately to flow, but then Hyundai seem to have been happy to let people assume that 10-11 CFM is the flow figure by publishing the displacement figure in the "features" list. 7 still meets my requirements mind.

Thanks for the review - which is helpful especially for a first-time compressor (FTC) buyer. I did end up ordering the Hyundai 50L because it is particularly quiet. Your review mentioned the SIP versions - but with so little info to go on, I also decided against it. The ABAC isn't so quiet, so your review helped in not choosing this one. Where I went a separate way (I also have spreadsheets with colouring) was to include the Orazio and Hyundai. They may be similar, but that's not a reason to reject them both? FWIW Orazio and Hyundai are the same prices but it's easy to ask for a discount with the Hyundai. Both these models now have twin outlets and the Orazio has a wing nut on the drain now? All compressors seem to operate the same way e.g. it pumps up and stops and then starts again at a lower limit. Mostly there is an output regulator e.g. pumps to 7 or 8 bar and set an output e.g. 5 bar. If there is a big swing e.g. 5 - 7 bar between off/on, how do tools that need something in the middle work e.g. 6 bar for a spray gun? Perhaps they all allow up to (say) 6 bar but work at a lower pressure (within reason). Until you mentioned a low volume sprayer I had no idea there were different types - something else to look into. "I just don't trust it any more" is always a very valid reason to move on and get a replacement. Holds true for domestic appliances (fridges and washing machines etc) as well.

aha! I got your choice spot on in 30 seconds of knowing your desired spec, and assuming it was me. i often do lists and comparisons in the same way, its like a game. i felt like i had won the lottery when you got down to crossing off the bingo numbers at the end. I live in Thailand so my choice of manufacturers is totally different, but surprisingly theres no hyundai here!

Thanks for an honest and really detailed review, if it helps, from their eBay site I have so far purchased from Hyundai ; An electric start Lawn Mower, a 70cc Chainsaw, a petrol Hedge trimmer, a petrol Earth Tiller and now I’m going to add a 50litre Compressor thanks to your review.
They are based at Pembroke Dock and the packaging and delivery time on every purchase has been first class. I’ve had no problems with any of the equipment I’ve bought. No, I don’t work for them or have any connections (honest) . I need something quieter than the unit I’ve got ( Aldi )

As an update, I purchased the Hyundai 50L silent compressor. The first unit to arrive had to be returned as it was not in new condition. Reading the reviews on Hyundai at Pembroke does not make good reading, they have very poor service reviews and something clearly is wrong there. However, the second unit arrived promptly and along with all the other Hyundai products I have bought has turned out to be a fabulous piece of kit. It is really quiet, recharges in 65 seconds and easily keeps up with a spray gun.

get turbine sprayer, you wont regret it.

Hyundai products are imported by a company in Wales (Genpower), their customer support is incredibly readable bad and I had to resort to legal action recently when they failed to support then “lost” a £2000 item. In cannot recommend any Hyundai products due to the incredibly poor support from them.

So which one did you go with in the end?

great video, are any of this compressors capable of sand blasting? ( motorbike frame / engine.... nothing too big.

Only SIP give the airflow stats in real world useable free air delivery. The other manufacturers give the airflow in how much air the pump puts into the tank. I've had a 25lt SIP compressor in the past and it was great for about 15 years and only gave up when I forgot to check the oil level and it seized up.

Any updates. Which compressor did you end up getting

I have the 24L Hyundai and so far after a year or two it's been amazing. Quiet, enough output for everything from airbrushing to driving brad nails, blowing out dust and filling tyres.

Bambi are by far the quietest I have heard as they are basically using fridge compressors but they are rather slow on the output. That said they are amazing for airbrushing.

The Hyundai 50Ltr compressor isn't 11 CFM. It is fact 5.28 CFM. 11 CFM is probably piston displacement. Manufacturers should not be allowed to state anything but the FAD. ( Free Air Delivery ) Anything else is misleading. From your review anyone watching would believe that the Hyundai is 11 CFM when in reality it is less than half that @ 5.24 CFM. The real specification can be seen if you navigate to the Hyundai website and check the specification.

With air flow (CFM) you need to make sure you're comparing apple to apples. Some manufacturers like Hyundai are advertising the Air Displacement CFM which is not the same as what your tools will be getting FAD/Free Air Delivery (CFM). That Hyundai actually only outputs 5.28 CFM which is hidden away in the spec sheet.

I don't recommend ABAC compressors to anyone, they're terrible. I bought a new ABAC 150 liter compressor and after almost a year of use, I noticed large amounts of oil in the air filter. The same thing happened when bleeding the compressor, it spat oil. The compressor was used occasionally, maybe a few times, and that's all. Then I noticed that the oil level in the engine was zero, the engine was probably damaged, specifically the rings. It is a scandal that something like this should happen in a new compressor. For me it's total crap, not worth a pound of fluff. I warn everyone against buying this scrap.

One of the compressor manufactures wrote to me: "At 4 bar, the flow rate is approximately 3.23 CFM;
at 2.5 bar, it is approximately 2.05 CFM."

I clearly dont understand anything about compressed air. I would have expected with a lower needed pressure the machine could produce more air (CFM).
