Just to be clear, he's not "extremely famous in Italy."
He's known within the conspiracy theory circles and, as a result, among debunkers who dismantle his claims — but the vast majority of people in Italy have no idea who he is.
Personally, I didn’t even know these conspiracy theorists existed until the COVID era. Boredom, lockdowns, and the flood of wild theories at the time led me to explore and eventually stumble into this bizarre world of cranks.
But honestly, I don’t know a single person — not one — who’s familiar with either the so-called big-name conspiracists or their debunkers.

SAR makes maps of a surface. Interferometric SAR makes two of such maps, in two different times and compares them to each other. Resulting interferometric map shows changes of the surface with centimetre (potentially milimetre) precision. That is current technology, and that is, what is shown in paper.
What researchers claim is, that changes of surface reveal what is underneath it, and not just a reaction of material of a pyramid to weather conditions (like temperature or Sun shine). And that they have a software, that can make accurate maps of structures underneath the surface based on those interferometric maps of surface

Your question to @archeomilla about particularly Italian "conspiracy archaeology" made me wonder just how many centuries has Italy been awash with rumours about the Pope's library in the (separate country of) the Vatican.
Not the public library. The extremely private library. The library where the Pan+goat sculpture from Pompeii was hidden for several centuries - see, there's an archæological twist!

But semi-seriously, there's a long and dirty history of conspiracy theories about goings on in the Vatican, dating back a good few centuries before Martin Luther said "And ninety-fifthly ..."
The Vatican has been as successful in covering up these conspiracies as the Borgia's PR firm were in blaming all the rumours on the Medici.
