I didn't think either distorted tone was particularly good. But A was better. B sounded better for cleans.
ОтветитьI can tell the diffrence between A and B, but for me none of those sounded useful D:
ОтветитьI'm listening on a phone, but honestly I like the way it goes between the two. Kind of gives a feel of two guitars battling
ОтветитьB for me. More clarity in the tone.
ОтветитьFuck you Glenn!!!! Greetings from North Carolina!!! I've been getting into the world of home recording for about 9 months now and because of your channel I have learned so much so first I want to say thanks for being awesome! My question is what is your opinion on the Peavey Valveking 2 100 Watt head with the built in XLR Record out and USB record out jacks built into the head? I have my Valveking running into my focusrite which I have set up in Reaper and the tones I've achieved sound pretty killer!!! How do you feel about these heads and is there any tips or tricks that you would recommend for these bad boys? Thanks Glenn and keep it metal!!
ОтветитьDug the hell outta the clip a sound
ОтветитьWow,I thought it was the opposite because of the tweeter rattle I was hearing when they were clean. But, I'm sure where the mic was made a large difference.👍thanks for the blind taste test Glenn. You the Man!!!🤘
ОтветитьA had a much fuller sound while B just kinda sounded flat. Perhaps that's because of the speakers not working, therefore not pushing as much air, but quality speakers always matter. Back in my cat stereo days, high end speakers made way more difference than head or eq. Basically, this test turned out exactly as expected for me. Thank you.
ОтветитьThe "A clip" sounded harsh to me. I go with the "B clip".
ОтветитьLoved clip A for clarity but clip b has a cool sound, I’d personally wanna put a healthy mix between the two, but if I had to choose one, it’d be A
ОтветитьI preferred A for the distortion and B as the clean. If a must if go B
ОтветитьWHAO WHAO WHAO am I going schizo? the broken beringer cab (B) Had a WAAAAAYYYY cleaner tone than the 1350 primo cab. Why is everyone SCREAMING about the "broken" cab even though it has a tight clean tone? I still like "a" but it seems more situational. Are people really that ignorant about signal processing? I have new-found confidence with this lowered bar
ОтветитьGood video!
I can not say A or B sound better. They sound different. But every cab sound different. U can take 10 cabs with the same speaker models inside and all sound different. It has to do with the volumen, materials, form, how the speakers mounted (front or rear loaded) and other factors. Or u can use one cab and do different speakers inside, like Marshall do. U can get their cabs with V30s, G12s. Greenbacks...and all sound different.
Here in the video we got a more midrangy sounding cab and one more scooped sounding one. It depends on the context and the personal taste what can might sound "better".
It is ever a good thing when more as one cab is avalible to try out what sound best for the actual job.
"Cheap" cabs is relative. Low cost means not automatically it is cheap. Open a Marshall cab than u know what is "cheap". ;) XD
There are cabs u can buy for lower price as the ones from the "big brands". I heared and played a lot cabs over my life, many brands. Sometimes u can find suprises in the low cost area. And sometimes u can get disapointed by a high cost gear.
I own a BG412H and i like it a lot. i use it for guitar and bass also. When i bought it one i get what i awaited.
This cab had many rehearsals, live gigs and some recordings behind and still working fine and never had a problem. The only minus is the near 50kg weight.
By recording a grind band we replaced a engl cab with the BG412H because we all liked the sound more.
In a band where i was playing the bass our guitar player used the cab with his JVM210H in english setting and his superstrats from Fender and Charvel, he liked it a lot and we recorded two EPs with the cab. Later he bought a Kemper and we drove in a studio room and made some profiling from the JVM210H and three different 4x12s. There was my BG412H, a Peavy one and a Anniversary Marshall with Greenbacks. After the tests we could say all cabs sound good and different, they all got their own character. For the sound we wanted the BG412H was the cab we both liked most, than the Peavy. We both was a bit disapointed by the expensive Marshall. The cab sounded most wooly and less fine resoluting for us. I think the context for the cab was wrong and the Marshall will shine in other context much more.
So i must say my BG412H is a working horse. Because it simple work in many situations if live or studio...and because it is still working, gear made for daily use and for the road. So i cant say this cab is cheap. Sure its not the best cab in the world! There are much better cabs out there! But i am happy with it, i know my gear and i trust in. Thats what we all sould do, find the gear work for us in the context we are atm. I got a 1x12 and a 1x10 too and i am happy got this options, a 4x12 is not ever what u need...but good to own one (or more). XD
I don't know if you have your Behringer 4 x 12 guitar cabinet still, but if you do why not replace the speakers with something more high quality, like Celestion 30's? I'm sure you have enough experience in recording that you could find the right speakers for your purposes. You have thousands of dollars worth of recording equipment in your studio, so why not spend the money to get better speakers in your cabinet instead of saying that your cabinet is broke and you can only get sound out of one speaker? No offense, but I'm going to be really surprised if this solution never crossed your mind.
ОтветитьIn every part I liked B better
ОтветитьI like Clippy B
ОтветитьFuck yeah glen!
ОтветитьYay, I got it right. Setup B sounds really unnatural, almost comb-filtered and with no definition at all. Sure that tone might be useful for some, but the thing is you can get that tone out of Setup A if you want (miking from far away, using 2 or more mics and play with the phase to actually create the comb-filtering, etc), but you can't do the opposite.
I once made the experiment of playing my brother's crappy tiny little Ibanez starter pack 10-watt practice amp through a cab with an Eminence Wizard speaker and it actually sounded pretty good, and REALLY loud.
I’ve heard WAY worse than either lol
ОтветитьI'm trying to figure out what makes a cheap cabinet. I have made some really good 1x12 and 2x12 cabinets in my garage and some have now been gigged regularly for over 30 years. They didn't cost much to make. So they were cheap in terms of dollars spent. As for tone..that's determined by what speaker you put in. I've used more EVM-12Ls than anything else except Celestion Greenback reissues, but when it came to CHEAP speakers, like Pyle drivers, I learned my lesson long ago. And no, the place to cheap out is NOT in the speaker. But a decent cabinet doesn't have to cost a lot.
ОтветитьI disliked both! It seems the old adage is true, you can't polish a turd. You can't make a good amp sound good with a crap speaker, and you can't make a crap speaker sound good with a good amp.
ОтветитьClip a was the best overall. An amp is only as good as the speakers and the cab. I did something similar with my triple x head and a cheap crate cab with no name speakers and vice versa. And realized the tone is in the speakers.
ОтветитьTbh I like both for distortion, and clip b for clean
Ответитьso I honestly listened with nice headphones and wow - so interesting!! the isolated guitar A sounded so shitty I could not believe it, fizzy and kinda gross, even fizzed on the "clean" clip. B was okay, no biggy. THEN in the mix A sounded great! and then B in the mix was dull, low end and not very dynamic sounding.
I would have guessed A was the nice amp with the fried cab,... and I would have been... well, watch the video LOL!!
Cool demo - thank you!!
A sounded like the busted Behringer cab. I ordered a new 412 on sale for $200, and the 2 left speakers were blown, made a crackling noise like sandpaper rubbing together! I returned it and traded it for another cheap cab, a Marshall mg 412 angled can. Wow, sounded way better than the Behringer, and was also smaller and lighter weight
ОтветитьIsolated, setup "B" sounds better, "A" sounds like the speakers are seriously damaged. In the mix again I preferred "B". Both mixes sound ok, although the guitars sound way different.
ОтветитьWhy not compare the behringer 2x10 and behringer bxd3000h head with other similar priced amps and cabs for those who are just getting into the head and cabinet bass amps
ОтветитьOr best of both grab the schematics for a orange 2x12 and build it yourself ;)
ОтветитьI liked clip B when the guitar is alone and clip A in a mix.
ОтветитьWhy the hell did the beringher cab akund better? Beats me!
Ответитьclip a much more readable in mix
ОтветитьHey, can you please make a video for best metal amp on a budget. I’m 16, don’t have an actual job, but I just made 600$ and I’m looking to get a sweet setup to replace my fender lt25 practice amp.
ОтветитьBoth sounded great.
ОтветитьThe day I dropped some money on a good cab was the day I realized the tone was in the cab
ОтветитьBest handle ever 🤣
ОтветитьCrunch & Clean - Clip B , Full Mix also Clip B
ОтветитьI was right! I felt like clip B sounded "boxy" and I felt it was probably the speaker doing that. Not that I'm a tech head, really.
ОтветитьClip A had this very thin sound consisting of crackling treble frequencies, kind of like a transistor amp pushed into distortion. Overall harsh sound character indicating some very cheap gear used. Now, keep in mind, as I am writing this comment I have no clue which amp/cabinet is which clip, but I am leaning towards guessing Clip A is the cheap Behringer Cab. Clip B, on the other hand, has a much more “mature” sound with a lot more mids and lows, while filtering out those nasty highs. I am guessing Clip B is the Engl Cab recording.
ОтветитьClip A by far is the deal. Clip B sounds like playing a guitar thru a gramophone.
ОтветитьI actually preferred B lol
Ответитьum... the behringer was better!
ОтветитьI like clip A for at home solo play with distortion. For cleans and in a mix I really love B.
ОтветитьI felt B had a little more definition and body.
ОтветитьI know this is an old video....but I didnt think either A or B was better or worse...they were just different tones. Clip A was a bright modern tone and Clip B was a warmer vintage tone....to my ears. I didnt think there was a better or worse...they were just different sounds.
Ответитьglad that crappy Behringer Cab finally got its dues with those amazing Neo Creambacks.
ОтветитьI called this perfectly baby. Tone is in the speaker
ОтветитьI'm ashamed to say, I have that Behringer cab. It was an affordable price when I was in my first decent band. I have a Randall VMAX and I wanna upgrade the speakers but dunno what to use yet...
ОтветитьI owned that Behringer cab years ago - they're loaded with Bugera speakers and I recognized it instantly because i could never get the top end to come through
ОтветитьAwesome demonstration ❤️🔥🎸
