Another doug video another miss, not only do you put the key in that receptacle it also can be a push to start button. Also you can leave the key out of that receptacle have it in your pocket and just push the round button in the console. I love that I can count on Doug for door handles and funny clips good on everybody for making him wealthy for not much else

I have the 2013 S5 V6T with custom exhaust and its amazing. It drives great, i’ve put on 50k miles and its on 140k miles now.

I also have carbon interior elements, flat bottom steering wheel, and apple carplay touchscreen (build in like its from the factory). I think those give the interior a real boost.

The prestige models came with carbon fiber trim which really elevated the interior. I often prefer the interior of my 2011 S5 Prestige 6MT over other sports cars 8+ years newer. Especially when you replace the kinda ugly and notchy stock shifter for a raceseng one like I did.

I had a 2011 V8 S5 (black on black) that I traded in for a 2012 A7, and now a 2021 S5 (quantum grey on red) ... I love them all equally...

I bought this S5 V8 Aspirated Manual about 1,5 months ago... is a really good car!
Of course it's not a super rough extreme sportscar, but a union between sport and comfort, which i actually like.

It's not that expensive, consider the big V8 under the hood!
Bought it fo 20k euros, i spend 90€ a week for the gasoline (that much beacuse i used on the week-end for fun), and i don't have a big salary live you have in USA...

It's a fun car, you can bring on a track or have fun on the hills.
The acceleration, again, is smooth... so it's not like an old 400hp Ferrari...

I owned a5 2012 and then I sold it and bought my current car s5 2015 cabriolet.. I was always in love with it and still in love with it I don’t think I will ever sell it even if I bought a new one.

Curious...I am hearing some horror stories on the timing chain guides and some folks have said that in 2008 models, this plastic guide design was improved or changed and not as problematic as in previous 4.2 v8's? Thinking of buying an 08 S5 V8 6 speed manual, but a possible 10k job has got me apprehensive. But if 08 models are not as problematic, I might bite the bullet.
Sorry for the random question, but cannot seem to get a consistent answer on this.

How do I tell which 4.2 motor is in my potential vehicle, since you do mention that there were two different ones being used?

I’m looking at a 12 s5, but it’s automatic. I’m fine with it, but I’m curious about the reliability. Not a lot of info out there, or at least not any consistent information. One group says they are glass like a beemer, some say it’s comparable to a 4l60… any information would be useful
