Further proof that college is a scam. I was a medical microbiology student back in the '90's; told that I had to take a sociology class. I avoided it like Yersinia Pestis. My senior year, I broke down and signed up. I dropped it after the very first lecture, which probably saved my soul. After digging deep into the course guidebook (back in the day), I found an obscure African geography course which would cover my sociology requirement. BTW, it simultaneously covered my women's studies requirement. Double win. Pretty sure these types of work-arounds are gone now.

At least the debate was civil. Personally i thing the prof should watch a few of Trumps campaign speeches "in full" for proper context. Seems intelligent and open enough to figure out everything done so far are campaign promises. Right down to "growing pains". Wall St., markets, inflation, trade etc... Im stuck with an international investment banker that cant bring our Canadian Dollar past .73 cents par US. Charlie should interview our Conservative Party Leader who just might gain more seats as more voter recounts continue. At least this prof wasnt another goblin.

I had the choice, go to uni study sociology or go to college and become an electrician, thank god my dad pursuaded me to go to college.

One can have a Phd, but still not possess one ounce of common sense. I fully support trade and vocational schools that when their students graduate, they will have the knowledge and skill set to enter the job market with their degree, for instance, electricians, construction, equipment operators, x-ray technicians, industrial insulators, plumbers, pipe fitters, and the list goes on. Getting a 4 year bachelor's degree is not a requirement for the blue collar worker which America was built upon. American made is good for American trade. Period.

No matter what, if tariffs are so bad, why have most of the world’s governments used tariffs against the USA since WW II? And why haven’t those foreign asymmetrical tariffs hurt the countries imposing them on the USA?

This was a good discussion. But as respectful as the professor is, I don’t see Mr. Kirk returning the favour. At least let the professor finish his explanation, if you already know what’s he’s going to say.

I feel like the professor allowed himself some wiggle room to eventually agree if things work out with Trump’s economic agenda. But let’s just acknowledge that he took a huge risk by even staying neutral or agreeing with anything. Charl said because universities come after professors that don’t stay in line.

My sympathies to any 21 year old who can’t find a legitimate job after graduating college but this is nothing new. I not only had 4 years of Air Force experience and my bachelors degree from a top college and it still took me 2-3 years to find a professional job. And this was 20+ years ago and unemployment was much higher than it was today. I too had to move back into my folks house for a few years. Again, many of the issues this current generation are having is nothing new.

I have a very nice house now but startng out was rough. The youth need to be told it's not going to be easy. I rented a mobile home, bought a tiny house in the country and completely remodeled it sold it and did it 2 more times in order to be where I am at. No one gave me anything and I didn't go to college.
