There should have been no way possible for that cursed desert rat to have beaten The Emperor. He should have been entirely too powerful for her. He had just used his powerful electrical lightning to destroy a number of resistance ships, without touching his own fleet mind you, then that little rat beat him. I say no way. Disney just wanted a quick resistance " happy ending " for the alleged good guys.

some planetoids are purely metal

It's funny, because if we were to assume the Empire had 15 SDs in every sector, for 1000 sectors, and we assume there wer a few (4) dozen mobile fleets comprised of 25 SDs, that still only amounts to 16200 Star Destroyers, almost a full 9000 vessels would remain unaccounted for, despite the obvious gross overestimation of average Imperial formations.

I've been looking far and wide, but I haven't been able to find much information on the "blast primer coating" described by tech of the bad batch in season 1. Can anybody please help me?

This reaction would be similar to what happened after the fall of the (predominantly Russian) Soviet Union, when most of its military forces simply became loyal to the new post-Soviet Russian government, while relatively few of those forces became die-hard defenders of the old regime (although some did so, and attempted a coup in 1991 to try to preserve the old system).

Empire resource/fleet capacity is bad writing, period. In a mere two decades you can't build tens of thousands of ISDs, multiple capital ships, hide fleet level backup plans all over the place and build two death stars.
It simply can't be done. It is too little time to get the logistics up and running. Yes there are massive ship fabrication facilities already in existence at the end of the Republic but you have to consider that in a realistic scenario they likely have years of order capacity already on the books.

Here is the real size of the imperial navy. 13 exsecutor class dreadnoughts, which were outnumbered by no more than 100 smaller dreadnoughts of 5-8k meters. Which were out numbered by no more then 400-600 battle cruisers of 2-4k meters which were outnumbered by 25,000 imperial class star destroyers. Which was outnumbered by more smaller star destroyers. Which were outnumbered by other capital ship classes of 500-600 meters. Which was out numbered by light cruisers, frigates and small carriers. Which was out numbers by corvettes and ships less then 200 meters. And then those were outnumbered. By gunboats. And then shuttles, gunships and fighters.
Around 100 dreadnaught
400-600 battle cruisers
25,000 star destroyers.
75,000 other smaller star destroyer varrients
140,000 other capital ships:
360,000 frigates and cruisers and carriers
800,000 corvettes, transports, and freighters.
1,600,000 gunboats
4-5 million shuttles
10-15 million gunships
Tens of millions of fighters.

I would actually be interested to see thrawn use the lax attitudes of the new republic as a way to exploit infiltrating their ranks. Get some imperial officers into high ranking positions so they literally have control of part of the republic fleet, and force the republic to fire on their own vessels.

Where did they all go? The Empire was almost certainly a financial house of cards, robbing one system or project ot pay another. When the emperor went ... when intimidation / extortion began to fail, the ships / units would be unable to supply themselves and would have dissolved, every being scrambling for themselves.

Well, to be honest. I don't think Thrawn will have a big fleet. Yes, Hux's Imperial Remnant has a the Eclipse and a large portion of the Imperial fleet, but chances are Hux aint going to share, leaving Thrawn with little resources hence why I think hes trying to build an army of undead Night Troopers/Nightsisters.

Long live the Empire, the contingency has worked well and the republic scum dont know were many ships disappeared ahahahha. I think there was something said that in the contingency key ships and army units would be marked as destroyed in combat and KIA but that was to disguise and trick the new republic to think they are gone while the select units secretly remained and were in the unknown regiona

I wanted to like asoka, such a great charitor arch, along with alot of other charictors handed to them.. and they all fell flat.. the bug ride where nothing was explained and nothing was expounded upon.. it wasl like watching NPC on a green screen.. they could have done more if they used those old bubbles from comics instead.. I really wanted to like it.. and nothing about how or why thrones fleet was so damaged, and how he linked up with this group of witches... nothing but NPC's on the screen.

At Endor, they didn't think they needed a huge fleet. They thought they set a trap, and they had a death star.

I think what they are going for with Thrawn is the real world correlative of Napoleon. I.e. he was a brilliant tactician who made his name and then was exiled for a time. Upon his return, he heralded the old forces to him again, but they are not the military they once were and even with his skills, he is like a man fighting with one arm tied behind his back for the upcoming Star Wars version of the battle of Waterloo. While he will certainly have some wunderwaffen in the Death Troopers, the return of Thrawn will awaken the New Republic and cause its various leaders to galvanize against the Imperial Remnant.

In order to take a sector, the sector fleet would need to be defeated. This would entail average 50% losses for the defeated sector fleet. So over 10000 Star Destroyers should have been lost as the New Republic took over (most of) the galaxy. The storyline don't cover the takeover of the galaxy

Thousands of isd's were hidden in nebula's in the unknown regions, I think afew hundred were just lost in the chaos that endor brought and the rest were probably also lost , split between the warlord factions or hoarded by some planetary governors that declared independence and the rest were captured or destroyed at jakku

I understand the value of secracy, that palpetine could not draw 1 or 2 star destroyers away from every sector fleet and just have them waiting without the rebels realising that it was a trap, but wasn't the order given for thousands of star destroyers to jump to the battle (to absolutely guarentee a win) before jumping back to their own systems after the battles conclusion?

I think moff gideon had some op unities but a small number and a small impact. I hope the empire have more power than gideon had, if it stay small the movies of the heir of empire will not have that much of impact indeed

I’m sure many star destroyers would have been used for spare parts. Why fuel and crew two hath functioning star destroyer when you can have one fully functioning star destroyer.
