October 2023. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Support color is pink. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Men can also get breast cancer, accounting for just under 1 percent of those diagnosed each year. Radiation exposure, high estrogen levels and a family history of breast cancer can increase a man's risk of the disease.
