I must just be a hater because Ingrid looks cool to me, but I am not happy to see Sagat and Alex.

Fun fact, the statue they used as inspiration is a real statue. It's in Thailand called WAT PHO.

To add, there's this notion that the ink blot colors don't have to reflect the aesthetics of their powers (Ala C,Viper has red ink yet will primarily use electricity) and that there might be a motive to distinguish her color in the group image from Sagat's and thus they can't both be using yellow

BUT, in her illustration she is very clearly being hit by a purple light from the right (Most clearly seen on the book). To me that's additional evidence pointing to it just not being representational and the color actually stemming from her actual powers.

I think those godlike characters that kinda "power themselves down" can be hella fun. Elizabeths animations for the Persona fighting game are amazing.

Ingrid is a popular character. She doesw ell in popularity polls. She doesn't need 'redeeming.'

Most the people commentating on twitter don’t even play fighting games, the other half first games is either V or 6, & less than 10% are legacy fans. It’s social media, people want a thing to hate and they’re regurgitating what their favorite streamer says.

Point is, do you really believe 90% people who hate or are “fans” Ingrid, actually played any of these games from over 10 years ago? That goes for any of these older characters too…You’re telling me that these people were playing these games that came out when they were in elementary school or younger? lol They can’t stomach a game that doesn’t have modern graphics and/or controls… I mean, you can see the numbers on fightcade or any of these older games that get added to a collection or patched with online 😂 But, keep getting mad that they added ____ character and not Sean, Remy, or whatever character from these games you didn’t and don’t play.

She actually the one that I'm looking forward to the most. Not neccessarily to play her, but to see how the SF devs handle her redemption arc. No way is she going to be like the previous games she was one, that everyone hates. The devs know this, so there's no way that they are going to put that version of Ingrid into the game. I'm expecting a completely new take on the character, including gameplay, and that's what I'm looking forward to.

I might be in the minority but I actually really liked Ingrid. I didn't like the games she was in all that much since I wasn't a big street fighter fan. I did play Ingrid and I liked the character for what she was. Weird and different. Plus she just wasn't Ryu or Ken, her mini lore was she's basically just OP and doing stuff just to do stuff. i.m.o I really appreciated that. To me she's always been cannon. When the world needed her most, she vanished. Flying into space, she was a fairy. (goddess)

Great video, it was really helpful but I’m not too sold on her color coding here being related to Psycho Power. For example Ed has Psycho Power, but he’s color coded red and blue.

As someone who loves Sailor Moon I’m interested in her.
As someone who also plays a lot of fighting games she feels as crazy as if Dante or Morrigan showed up as themselves in SF6 so I understand the confusion

I don't know about Ingrid but I know a lot of people hate her character because she's an Athena clone.
I hope she'll make a great character.

I love that Capcom is bringing Ingrid into the cast! It's tragic that it's taken this long for it to happen, but, HEY! It's happening!

We need more lore breakdowns, everyone knows that fighting game lore is on par with Tolkien levels of writing

Never hated her but never understood her appeal to fans besides looking like a kid. Between Rose, Gill, Bison, and even G, the franchise has never lacked for powerful characters who represent a form of energy. The Tech/Cyber and Muay Thai representatives can use some love.

I trust Capcom to redesign her though. SF6 have scored homeruns with pretty much all familiar faces and newcomers who are worth keeping.

I’m an Ingrid fan from the Project Cross Zone (PxZ) games on the 3ds. Which are in my opinion are the absolute best crossover games of all time. And honestly feel a bit unseen since nobody seems to talk about her appearance in that. Probably nobody played those and they are basically inaccessible now—but she 100% had the most characterization of any appearance in that game and was honestly pretty funny, and they gave her awesome alpha 3 music for her themes.

I’m way too young to know her from any of her other appearances so this whole reaction is wild to me. Also, I kinda expected her to show up at some point after coming in like 13th in that in game fighter poll they ran in the battle hup a while back since I was voting for her but didn’t think she was that popular even at the time. But to learn she is this HATED is a a trip.

She is definitely an odd one but I love her.

In a now deleted tweet, Tekken’s producer Harada also praised Ingrid’s design and moveset, likening them to Lili. Ingrid actually came before Lili and might’ve been her inspiration!

Ingrid just doesn't fit in Street Fighter. She's more of a Darkstalkers character. Heck, she could fit in the game Red Earth.

They should totally keep her lore as is, her whole motivation should just be fighting for fun. It's like "you peasants are able to play SF6 because I allow you to, I could tickle you all to death but I just don't feel like it right now".

I like Ingrid, but a missed opportunity to bring a character from the Darkstalkers games. I don't think people would be complaining as much if Morrigan came to SF6

Project X Zone 2 lists her as a Street Fighter character, and she has appeared in so many official Street Fighter character guides.

Ingrid being a guest character actually checks out. There was a small period where Capcom couldn't use her AT ALL in promo materials, including Capcom's own fan voting surveys. Capcom even had Udon do a re-print of their Capcom Swimsuit issue to remove all traces of Ingrid. Even had to clear rules that any submissions couldn't have Ingrid in it! For all intents and purposes, she technically is a guest character!

Yeah, in a crossover game, so who cares? Galactus himself can be defeated by Hawkeye in UMvC3 and you don't see nerd rage about it.

She's a goddess in the Udon SFxT prequel comic, so more people taking crossover lore super seriously for no reason, and in the Udon continuity of all things, where even the story set in the mainline universe aren't canon. Also, we'll collectively glaze Cody because our reading comprehension of that one Oni quote is really bad, give Sakura a pass when she learned Ansatsuken on her own better than Dan and Sean (who were trained by Gouken and Ken respectively), but no you guys, power scaling in the SF universe is serious business and we need to keep it consistent.

Marvelous logic here, so did a lot of other characters, Alex debuted in SF3 New Generation (a game everybody agrees is bad), was the new protagonist, but was also consistently weak and badly designed in terms of gameplay through out all SF3 versions, and never got this amount of hate (if he ever got any at all).

Menat was also a magical girl, who aggressively fawns over her "senpai" Rose and has cutesy cat mannerisms, and nobody had a problem with it. Long before her or even Ingrid herself there were numerous young girl waifu archetypes in SF (genki girl Sakura, ojou Karin, angry tomboy Makoto, hyper-friendly transfer student Elena and etc), but sure, let's single out this one example.

I'm pretty glad ingrid is coming back, since they can do literally anything with her now, and if she's getting psycho power then even better. Now we can make a full psycho avatar moveset.

Aside from being the poster child of a rare L in SF history, I don’t see any legit reasons to hate her. Gamers will find every and anything to complain about and it’s truly insufferable 😂

I liked playing as Ingrid in the PSP version of Alpha 3. I never understood the hate she got. She was in one bad game 20 years ago, and FGC people have been acting pissy about it ever since. If Dee Jay and Ed can be completely redesigned, so can she. Looking forward to seeing what they’ll do.

There was some sprite updates for Demitri, Zangief and Guy at least.
