These new mechanic names feel like they belong in an Un-set.

Looking at the release schedule for 2025, we are in the middle of a dark age in MTG

Holy heck, Aatchik's wording is broken as heck. It should just be "and" not "and/or", and the worst offense, "Each opponent loses 1 life" has no trigger or activation. There should have been an "and" and not a period! How did this get past quality control!?

I think Agatha's Soul Cauldron will go up in price at least temporarily.. just checked. its just gone up in price for MTGO :D

... I get you don't like the flavor, but Brother War would like a word. The literal origin story of the game involves artificers and giant robots fighting, not wizards. It's a very small step to say they invented cars from there, and pretending like it's beyond the pale is kind of ridiculous.

Disagree about quag feast. While the card itself is stronger in eternal formats, it has to compete with much better removal spells, many of which are instants and/or have less of a restriction

These new sets power levels are insane. Made me completely give up on the game. Its just fun anymore. Pretty much shuffle, show you hands, and determined who wins.

I love magic. I love the lore, and i get a kick when a card's flavor and mechanics make the lore feel alive. And with every recent standard set ive tried so hard to find aspects of it that make me feel good about it, and im struggling so hard with this set. I try telling myself "okay we've had weird magic cowboys where legendaries have been randomly dumped, and we had that whole 'Noir Detectives that feel like New Capenna but it's not', so why cant we have aether-fueled races?" And im still struggling. Some of the designs look less Aether and more Walmart Autobots. Then they throw in some tech reminiscent of the old urza blocks. Ugh wth is going on

The power creep has me worried and frustrated. Worried about what mtg will become and what will become the new normal for wizard's of the coast. Frustrated because they have acknowledged in the past how damaging some sets and cards have been to formats and then they release this. I hope the new tarkir set isn't like this.

I feel like if they really want to introduce interplaner relations it would be better to have planar bridges that connect planes for getting around and then do stuff like markets so they could display aspects of the involved planes through what is being sold rather than stuff like a multi plane race. Would also open up the possibility of the new threats disguising themselves and what they have so they could travel between planes acting like merchants in public while progressing their plans in secret. With the group trying to stop them having to split up so they can cover multiple planes in their search. Could even have the evil group shut down or take over the planar bridges. They could even use the planar bridges to kidnap people to use for progressing their scheme.

I love these cards so far. They're so fun and powerful. I don't care what anyone says, this set is amazing so far

During Mendicant Core, you made an offhand comment about it taking 3 more turns to get to "Max Speed." This is not correct. It can take as little as 2 turns after the turn you cast your initial "Start your engines" card (I hate that that's the effect name). When you cast the spell, you're then placed at 1. You then find some way to make the opponent lose life on that turn; now it's at 2. Next turn it's 3, then on that last turn it's 4. This is three total turns, including the turn you play the initial card, not "three more turns" as you claimed.

That makes this still admittedly slow effect faster than you seem to think it is.

As an aside, I hate this set. Everything about it sucks.

Well, I mean, they've switched over completely to AI. Generated card, so not a surprise. Remember the AI cards become more abundant. The older sets will become more valuable

There is only 1 card in this set that I plan on using in CEDH. The rest is hot garbage.

I like the goofy racing theme and mechanics, but I'm just a big fan of goofy cards and overall jank in MTG lmao so I totally get why it doesn't work for a lot of folks. I'm absolutely gonna have some commanders from this set. Vroom vroom!

The aetherspark is terrible card design. It seems fun but in terms of design thing is busted as hell and should of been sent back for redesign and balance before being released.

The sheer speed (not the mechanic, the low casting costs on many creatures) of the game is mind boggling for an old guy like me. Started playing with Arabian Nights and wow... My head swirls with the new sets.

You can get max speed in a turn if you cast on your first main 1 ping on first main 2 combat 3 ping on second main 4 max speed baby

Hasbro is having its Activision WOW Panda moment! Lose its loyal base and destroy the brand to try and get younger players instead of just making these crappy theme sets be something separate and stand alone for them. The players that built this brand in the 90's are being betrayed!

Captain howler seems like it would be a cool commander to play. You really don’t need a discard outlet printed on him because red and blue gives you access to all the best wheel cards. I think it would be interesting to build a combat focused Izzet deck. Get some extra combat step spells with some tramplers or flyers, sword of feast and famine, maybe another wheel or 2 and it’s GG

I don't see why they didn't just go with a One Piece-esque concept, where something happens and that causes everyone to build vehicles to get it as fast as possible. That way, they can keep the whole race-theme without doing these ridiculous futuristic arts that don't make sense for the characters?

I haven't played magic since Innistrad, aside from some Bloomburrow drafts on Arena and I bought the Bloomburrow starter. Watching this gives me no desire to return; even I know this isn't what magic is!

On the other hand, I've been playing tons of Star Wars Unlimited, and it's awesome!

The game is becoming absurd and less fun with every new set.
