Should I play Heroes of the Storm in 2024?

i would pay monthly to get new heroes/new content.most fun moba in my eyes and i played them all.

Hots needs gameplay mods and completely new rank system like revealed Matchmaking Rating

Still most fun MOBA hope Blizzard will revive it, they just need to learn some monetization from Supercell Brawl Stars.

Game is so underrated and deserves more love. But in the other hand, that lack of attention from executives made it more beautiful and clean from all those money predatory practices that are ruining blizzard. I just hope the balance team doesn't get axed

Ranked is fine. QM is basicly a coin toss, 8 out of 10 games are Aba games or you'll get stomped by a premade 5 man team. There is also no balance, you can have a team of bronze - silver players against dia - master ppl.
The game is still fun, but it needs so much fixing regarding QM.

The game has 10 MILLION players now? FOUR years after officially dying? And that's after the MAJORITY had left? Can somebody explain to me how did Blizztard decide that it was a failed game? How do they not see so many people playing a rotten corpse of a game and not decide "hey maybe it's worth investing in it again?" Even Hi-Rez did a half-assed attempt on reviving Tribes: Ascend after having it killed for 2 years and it did boost the player numbers for a while before they gave up (the final update was absolute garbage but a lot of players returned to at least check it out and it was the last time the game had some signs of life in it)

The real reason you shouldn't play this right now is the community is full of absolute donuts that are mentally defective, because they'll scream at you for not hitting buttons on cooldown when your team is WINNING.

"We could be winning even harder if you didn't fucking suck you $%&" is a common refrain whenever I play, and I'm by no means bad. The community is toxic AF and full of total idiots.

Where did you get the player count of 10 million?

HotS had a new patch just a few days ago! Also, it is a bit strange that no one hardly ever brings up the point that HotS has not just by far the most skill-shot skills, but the most difficult ones compared to the DOTA2 or LoL. Also, team and map wide strategies are very important in HotS and quite hard, while DOTA2 and LoL focuses more on tactical skirmishes.

However, in the past several years, DOTA2 has been stealing a lot of great ideas from HotS (which I found hilarious, since DOTA2 players hail them as brand new innovative ideas, as if they weren't directly carbon-copied from HotS) making DOTA2 so much more strategic, new player friendly and more fun to play

Honestly, I think the main problem with HotS was always management completely failing the marketing, and then pulling the plug too early from development and pushing it out as finished, before the game was even 70% finished. Then the killing of the eSports scene in that biggest betrayal move of gaming history, just when the league was gaining massive fanbase, momentum and was the biggest crowd attractor in Blizzcon (which basically started to die right after they no longer had HotS events there to make the event into a sports-happening). Being the 3rd best live service MOBA that made money, just wasn't good enough for Bobby, who wanted to be number 1 or nothing.

Dead? it's been dead for like 8 years. Want a 20 minute game with no brainers that lost in the first minute, who are also scared of everything except going in 1on5, then hots is the game for u!....

I've played Dota and LoL for years and I think HotS is the best moba. Sad how Blizzard mismanaged it, but I still jump into aram games whenever I have time.

Hots should be the gold standard for mobas

The hope is really with Microsoft and what direction they'll point Blizz. If there's a shakeup at Blizz for them to start giving a shit about their entire stable of IP instead of just their moneymakers (as Activision dictated), there's a chance for HoTS, and Starcraft, etc. There's value in tapping these smaller franchises and their playerbases, they've built up an audience for these properties and are just letting it decay.

Thank you, it was about a year or so I haven't played this gem, but now I'm coming back thanks to you. Your videos popped up in my recommended and since the titles/thumbnails were not clickbaity I decided to watch a few and I guess they created an itch only HotS can scratch.
Since I have way too many hours in SC2 Co-op and only stopped playing it recently and Stormgate needs more time in the oven yet I guess HotS is my best option to fill out my free time I just was not aware of it. So thanks.

I got a 5120x1440 resolution, and the game doesn't support it. Oblivion does though.....

Latam servers sucks, but is a great game.

The reddit is very active, shows the health of the player base too.
The game is very fun, we need one big streamer to retry it (especially with the trend on "retro" or older games).

Short Answer: Its not dead. I only need < 1 Min to find a ranked match. I play it every day

Still playing it, I wish Heroes of the Storm didn't die hard with no new heroes, actual updates or features.

I still think HOTS was the most under rated moba mostly because it was the only one I loved. Other than deadlock.

I started HotS on release day (more or less), was away for a while but am now back and enjoying it a lot. Really grateful it still is kept alive.

I've been playing non stop for almost 3 years now. Tried to go back to League and it feels so stale, slow and repetitive.

I went from hots to league for a bit then took a big hiatus from mobas and have tried to get back into league because friends are into it, buts HOTS has my heart, its so fun to pick up and play

I returned to hots earlier this year to experience the game again and it's still as fun as it was when I first played it. I'm glad there are still a dedicated playerbase playing and appreciating this game. I wish blizzard didn't give up on it

The lobbies I get(Im total noob) are either all bots where everyone is somehow worsr than a new player or everyone is hating me because they are super sweats and expect me to quad kill xD
