They could have been a good pair if done differently. But the entire 3rd movie is a pile of shit. Nothing in the movie made sense. They stripped toothless of all his personality and made him into this item purely used to market the movie "cuz look how cute he is!" 😑. He became a sort of mindless pet that was made to be believed to be trapped with hiccup cuz he cant fly on his own. Wich is just not true. In the christmas special "the gift of the night fury" hiccup made toothless a tail just like this one that he can fly with on his own so he can go where he wants. After getting this "gift" for hiccup he wanted hiccup to take it off. And when he didnt do it right away toothless just started smashing the tail to pieces. So how is he trapped against his will exactly?

They made hiccup into some barbie perfect face having moddel or sum. Wich just doesnt make sense. Even httyd 2 did it a little bit. But that was fine. They at least kept some imperfections from the first film like his freckles. But the 3rd film made his face perfect looking for some reason.
And they took away a lot of character decelopment from the previous films and the series. Same with toothless. Httyd 1 and 2 toothless would have never just left hiccup like he did in the start of 3 when he met the light fury for the first time. This entire movie doesnt make sense.

There is a lot to go over but i aint gonna type more then this cuz this is already wayyyyy too long of a comment.

I just hate the 3rd movie cuz it makes no sense and completely destroys and changes things and developments that were made in the past 2 movies.

I would like to address an unissued everyone has or had. People say they disliked how toothless left in the end but it’s far more complicated. Toothless fell in love with the lightfury and had fun with her for a bit. Hiccup wished he would have had fun with his new GF. He literally made the tail so that he could fly by himself. Then when hiccup was in trouble toothless chose him over the lightfury, saved him and returned to Berk. He was upset obviously because he loves the lightfury but he was fully willing to let her go. She showed up in Berk proving that toothless and her would stay with hiccup. In the end it was hiccups choice to let the dragons go. Toothless respected that and took all the dragons to the edge of the world. In summary toothless didn’t abandon hiccup for the lightfury, hiccup wanted to let toothless love his own life with the rest of the dragons.

The "Disappearing" Trick is not the same. The Light fury is implied to have powers that can "manipulate" light refraction/reflection turning herself invisible. Toothless powered up himself with lightning as it was "foreshadowed" that Night furies are the "offspring of lightning and death" meaning Toothless simply flew as fast as lightning that you can't see him which exhausted him momentarily.
