Imagine training all your life, becoming powerful to the point they only one capable of subduing you is the master of your master who might be a gazillion years old, being imprisoned for 20 years completely immobilized and then managing to break out, beat the shit out of your master and 5 students, only to lose because your enemy is so fat that he barely feels your punches while occupying half your field of vision.

Idk why it took me so long to realize that Po knew how to do the wuxi finger hold before he ever went to the Jade Palace. Whole time I thought he saw Shifu almost do it once and immediately picked up on it 🤦‍♂️

From someone who read xianxia (wuxia martial arts with gods and Buddha where one finger can destroy a world/planet), this is my opinion on how Po did it -------> Tai Lung's 6 consecutive nerve attacks helped unlock Po's meridians, potential, so CHI could flow. This is clearly shown when he easily deflected Tai Lung's frontal two-fist attack without stepping back. (Meridians depending on a story can be a metaphysical vein or an invisible vein where chi flows)

If you are familiar with CHI in the series, it has been foreshadowed as YIN YANG. One concept and application of yin yang is reflecting hardness (yang) with softness (yin). In the following scene, the energy from Tai Lung's frontal attack was successfully redirected by Po, and Tai Lung was flung back so hard. Remember in Kung Fu Panda 2 when Po reflected those cannonballs? It's the same concept.

With his unlocked meridians and chi --- the fight choreography/cinematography becomes similar to when Neo became "The One" in The Matrix. Po can now easily fight Tai Lung, see his movements, and no longer needs to rely on his environment (before the nerve attacks). If you've noticed, Tai Lung was clearly faster at first.. After the 6 nerve attacks, unlocking his potential, Tai Lung and Po then suddenly have the same speed during the fight (Before the wuxi finger hold). This was to show the viewer a different perspective of how Po could now easily keep up with Tai Lung, compared to before.

Now, about the WUXI FINGER HOLD. This can easily be a plot hole, but hear me out. Shifu never taught Po this move. Here’s a trivia found in Kung Fu Panda’s wiki about the Wuxi Finger Hold:

"In an interview conducted by Scholastic News Online, when asked about the hardest move for him to learn, Po answered it was the Wuxi Finger Hold and states that Shifu told him (after having defeated Tai Lung with it) that there actually is no such move; it was just a story that masters made up to scare their students. Po added he cannot recall exactly how he did it, but feels he must practice."

So, how did Po even learn to use it? It’s the preconception that the Wuxi Finger Hold exists. The nerve attacks from Tai Lung helped Po unlock his meridians --- plus the fact that in this universe, pandas are innately gifted with CHI (as shown in Kung Fu Panda 3). With all these combined, Po innately learned this chi-based technique. It’s like an innate Eureka moment where everything came together, and Po just knew how to use it.

As per Oogway: "There are no accidents."

To summarize and to add more information to everything I've said already:

1. Po is innately gifted with chi. And being able to use chi is one of the highest requirements to becoming a real Kung Fu Master. (Quick analogy: you can't call yourself a veteran pirate in the New World if you can't use haki in One Piece). How did Oogway know this? Divination and fate are huge concepts in the world of kung fu/wuxia/xianxia.

2. Once Shifu started believing in Po’s destiny, this helped Po tremendously in terms of WILLPOWER. If you’re an avid reader of xianxia, you know how important it is to have a strong will. You know about inner demons? Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. When Shifu started believing in Po, it helped Po build his willpower a lot considering his doubts to himself since he’s just a noodle boy ever since the beginning.. Add to that the realization of having "No Secret Ingredient," and you’ve got a character with even stronger will than Luffy from One Piece. Hear me out... even pre timeskip Luffy gets scared of an admiral, and he’s trained. Po didn’t have that much training, yet he ran up the STAIRS and faced an enemy that even the Furious Five and Shifu couldn’t defeat without even being nervous. If you’re telling me Po has weaker willpower than Luffy, then I’m out. (PS: I am only referring to that moment where he tries to save shifu. Willpower is like your typical power level in Dragon Ball. It can increase or decrease depending on the many factors such as emotions or situation. It’s similar to when a person can lift a car during emergency situations.)

3. A strong will and belief + the nerve attacks from Tai Lung that unlocked Po's potential and chi is what Oogway divined. No questions asked. That’s why he wasn’t worried. Bro can divine. Even in Kung Fu Panda 3, when his chi was being absorbed, Oogway had already divined that Po would defeat the spiritual warrior (Kai). Let me tell you this: divination is easier than sending a universe message (this is when Oogway contacted Po’s dad at the end of Kung Fu Panda 2 --- Oogway even mentioned it at the end of Kung Fu Panda 3 by the lake in his home).

4. Have you watched Kung Fu Hustle? The guy never did any formal training. He probably trained for a few weeks as a kid and stopped practicing the Buddhist Palm technique after getting peed on by the boys who were bullying the mute girl. But as soon as his meridians were unlocked, his strength went up a notch. You see, when the meridian is unlocked and chi flows, not only does it heal previous physical trauma, but it also strengthens the mind and body. That’s what I was referring to earlier, when Po could easily fight Tai Lung, as shown in the cinematography/Choreography. That’s all. Hope this helps.

Someone made an analysis during this fight along the lines of: Po barely even used Kung fu during this fight with Tai lung, because by all means he was one of the best Kung Fu practitioners trained by someone who was second only to Oogway. Po used his surrounding resources to beat. tai, as if the entire universe was against him. His upbringing with shifu had him ready for a destiny that wasn’t this, Po using the trees, bamboo, a falling building, the ground and even got washed by a move that Po saw only once(twice if you count shifu).
