Never hit seventeen
When you play against the dealer
For you know that the odds
Won't ride with you
Never leave your woman alone
When your friends are out to steal her
She'll be gambled and gone
Like summer wages
And we'll keep rollin on
Till we get to Vancouver
And the one that I love
She's living there
Its been six long months
And more since I've seen her
She may be gambled and gone
Like summer wages
(Chorus)
In all the beer parlors
Down around Main Street
Dreams of the season
They're all spilled down on the floor
And the big stands of timber
Wait there just for fallin'
And the hookers standin' watchfully
Waitin' by the door
Gonna work on the towboats
With my slippery city shoes
Lord I swore I would never do that again
In the great fog bound straights
Where the cedars stand watchin'
I'll be far off and gone
Like summer wages
In all the beer parlors
Down around Main Street
Dreams of the season
They're all spilled down on the floor
And the big stands of timber
Wait there just for fallin'
The hookers standin' watchfully
Waitin' by the door
Never hit seventeen
When you play against the dealer
For you know that the odds
Won't ride with you
Never leave your woman alone
When your friends are out to steal her
She'll be gambled and gone
Like summer wages
Years are gambled and gone
Like summer wages
This song mean a lot to me.
ОтветитьBeautiful song writing on this one.
Ответитьincredible
ОтветитьStill prefer the Ian Tyson version, and have for decades, but this is still pretty good.
ОтветитьThis is a beautiful song. And true
ОтветитьI love colter wall so much! Thank you good sir!!
ОтветитьFake country
ОтветитьAmazing! and oh that 'Waaaaages ' sounds like Dylan
Ответитьi keep coming back for this song over and over… when colter says “go ahead bud” before the slide solo haha so good.
Ответитьyoure welcome america
ОтветитьI haven't heard anyone use the term beer parlor since the 90s before my grandma passed away. Love it!
ОтветитьSuch a great cover!
ОтветитьCowboy shit
ОтветитьOh I remember hearing this for the first time from Ian Tyson and Colter doesn’t disappoint either.
ОтветитьThe Best version I've heard......,,,,,,,, right after the Master,Ian Tyson
ОтветитьColters dad. Brad was premier of Saskatchewan.
He drove home 2.5 hours every day after work.
They lived at the end of my street. Brad owned Waylon’s Cadillac. Colter is named for Jesse Colter. Brad thought naming him Waylon was a little much. Lol. Great People.
Boy this brings back old memories. Both the lyrics and the style of the song
ОтветитьI'm a Missourian, born and raised, but he makes me wanna go North and see Canadia with his story telling abilities. Love REAL COUNTRY!
ОтветитьMust not have met many English speaking Canadians if you don’t think they’re just like us
ОтветитьFirst time I heard him I asked my brother in law where he got these deep Johnny Cash cuts I’d never heard before 😂🤦♂️
ОтветитьWhen is colter wall coming to Ireland

Ответитьhi
Ответитьyour voice takes me back to 1960 and I've never even been there.
ОтветитьLove Colter! More please!?
ОтветитьJesus is lord
ОтветитьFlat top player just killing that solo
ОтветитьHigh pressure when Colter Wall says “go ahead bud…”
ОтветитьAnyone know what hat colter is wearing in this?
ОтветитьHope he's doing better, my wife and I took her cancer journey, beginning in 2022. That's some fine slide, there, side man.
ОтветитьLove this song, a man cave favorite! Thanks Colter...
ОтветитьAnother Ian Tyson classic covered very well by an excellent artist.
ОтветитьLove this tune. My favorite version is JD Crowe and the New South Band with Tony Rice on guitar and vocals, Ricky Scaggs on mandolin and fiddle, JD on banjo (of course) and Jerry Douglas on dobro... can't remember bass player off the top of my head. Outstanding bluegrass version of the tune, but Colter does a bang-up job here.
ОтветитьBeen listening to all kinds of music for a while now. This may be my favorite performance I’ve ever heard in my life. Have not stopped listening to this on repeat for weeks now.
ОтветитьHe fucking butchers this, ian tysons is better.
ОтветитьPlease... Put this song on Spotify.
It really touches my soul, deeply.
That slide solo was absolutely insane, what an amazing version of this classic song.
Ответить🇨🇦 I remember Vancouver and Main st.
ОтветитьI love western AF jams!
ОтветитьMy favorite Colter performance to date
ОтветитьI was a roofer back in the day , the best time to make money was during the summer . That's why I can relate to this song
ОтветитьAs an ex towboat man I have say that was a pleasure Colter. Thanks.
