I have a promethazine prescription. I’ve probably only gotten a refill once in 5 years. I only take it as an absolute last resort. No wonder he’s been, uh…. Different. Using promethazine (with other illicit substances) recreationally would absolutely wreck anyone’s IQ. I don’t think anyone could function anywhere near their full potential while/after abusing promethazine. Like, anyone doing that is absolutely squandering whatever potential they have.

I think people assume that the opiates in lean are responsible for that slurring, short bus, stupor you see from some rappers. That’s definitely true when a person is using opiates at dosages where they’re “nodding out”. But many people abusing opiates are on a spectrum of “surprisingly functional” to “barely functional” depending on where they are in their addiction and what/how much they’re using (functional doesn’t mean they aren’t still making choices that ruin their lives). The slurring stupor is not functional, obviously. The Promethazine in lean is a major contributing factor to that awful stupor, and the effects of promethazine last for days. It seems like Wayne has potentially caused himself some degree of permanent damage. He doesn’t seem the same.
