Article: https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/processors/as-intels-struggles-continue-rumours-are-now-emerging-that-plans-are-afoot-to-flog-its-chip-manufacturing-fabs/

There have been recent rumors suggesting that Intel might be considering selling its chip-manufacturing fabs. While these rumors have not been officially confirmed by Intel, they have sparked speculation and concern within the industry.

Possible reasons for the rumors:

Financial struggles: Intel has faced challenges in recent years, including manufacturing delays and falling behind competitors in AI technology.
Focus on chip design: Selling the fabs could allow Intel to focus more on designing chips and licensing their production to other companies.
Foundry business losses: Intel's foundry business has been losing billions of dollars, making it a potential target for divestment.
It's important to note that these are just rumors, and there is no official confirmation from Intel. The company has not made any public statements about its plans for its fabs.

If these rumors are true, selling Intel's fabs could have significant implications for the semiconductor industry. It could impact the availability and pricing of chips, as well as the competitive landscape.

It's never a good sign when a big company is forced to scale back operations, but it's kind of to be expected given they're in survival mode right now. The employees that will be laid off are going to bear the brunt of this.

To be honest, that sounds crazy. If you recall, during the chip shortage, that literally stifled the tech sector, during the pandemic, Intel took subsidies from the government, in order to build 2 manufacturing chip factories in America, since farming out to China, didn't work out for them very well. By now, those buildings have had to have been completed in construction by now, and should be ready to go. History has already proven during the pandemic, you can't rely on China, so what gives? I don't understand Intel anymore, nothing they do anymore makes sense.
