That's not dirt in the water. It's dye from the dress. It's likely a natural fabric like rayon.

i go to fashion school and major in fabric dyeing and that wasnt all gunk it was mostly if not entirely just dye that wasnt fixed in

Oh and a propos of thinking smarter, those are the 3 primary colors, meaning you can/should mix them to make new ones (elementary school level knowledge)

If u soaked it in hot water and laundry soap it was def the dye coming out- that didn’t look like dirt and didn’t have dry skin dust or dirt floating in the water so I’d say that’s just dye

I love what you did. Some of that color from your initial wash was because it probably had never been washed and that's what black dye looks like a new clothing
