This is a great explanation for those who do this and it works smoothly. Thank you for this.

However, I am only able to get up to choosing which company your email is with, then all goes south:

A) G doesn't ask you which email to enter, your current one or one you want to add.

B) it doesn't indicate that the password you should use is supposed to be the one you use to unlock your device! I never would have guessed that… Google is too big to have to make people guess things like this.

Next-

For whatever reason it is not accepting the pw I have set on my Gmail account that I use when I open it on my laptop. OK fine, so I click on "forgot password". Asks me to put in last password I remember. Says sorry can't get in at this time try later or contact blah blah blah.

By pure chance I go back a Step or 2 and it randomly offers me the option to have them text me with a code. Yay! They send code. Great- where do you enter it?? Only option is to enter password again. Me: gets sinking feeling the recovery code is not what they want here, enters it anyway. Tells me sorry can't get in try back later or contact blah blah….

This is absolute BS. I remember this going on with them when they first launched Gmail! This is still a problem?! I wouldn't even spend more wasted time writing this out, but I have finally had it with these types of things and just wanted others to know you're not alone if you're frustrated! Google?: if you're out there? Please freaking fix this? thank you. 🤯
