My pioneer vintage amb is not working vsx4800
ОтветитьJust wanted to drop you a note to let you know, even after 5+ years since you published this, its still a great online source of repair information. Thanks for your effort and time to put this resource out there for other's benefit!
ОтветитьNeed help! Replacing a capacitor and soder will not stick.
ОтветитьI was expecting bit more info from this. What specific audio test equipment is good to get? SG165?
ОтветитьThank you for making this video.
ОтветитьThanks for this. I just inspected all my 1983 Yamaha equipment and it looks great and sounds as it should. I bet my ears work at a level that I couldn't tell anyway lol. I have all the tools and half the skill, so I hope to find an easy one to fix someday.
ОтветитьI'm about to order a new soldering iron probably going to find an analog model. Do you feel there is any advantage with a digital ? Just seems like more to fail
ОтветитьI was an electronics bench tech. You take for granted having the proper tools etc.. But that soldering iron needs to be proper! Bought one of those kits they sell and man that soldering iron almost ruined a simple bulb replacement. Nice videos, Thank You
ОтветитьI have a optinica amplifier sm 1515b if the power transformer goes bad can it be fixed the part number is rtrnpo506afzz it is my graduation money purchase so it is centimental the output ic is s-60w sharp number rh-ix1066afzz the power cap. Is a dual 50 volt 6800mfd
ОтветитьThanks for all the tips, I just bought an HAKKO FR301-03/P. The video maybe old but it is still good advice. Take care.
ОтветитьWhere are you? I need to fix some
I am in USA
Maybe one day I can repair my JVC MCA-V7E
ОтветитьYou don’t need a desolder gun (especially given their price nowadays), just need to use a solder wick and do a proper job of removing the solder.
ОтветитьThe hako 808 is 200 bucks
ОтветитьSo basically, you have a fully stocked repair shop in your home.
ОтветитьLove it. Good job! Just purchased a Sony STR-7055A...its so great and I want to be able to keep it running and sounding good. Your video just stated the process. Tks
ОтветитьMounting pin for a Sanyo 5600 k. Available?
ОтветитьDo you sell any of the repaired equipment? I would be interested in buying.
ОтветитьLeft out these needed tools: DVM, oscilloscope, source for service manuals/schematics, signal tracer, audio signal generator, side cutters, tweezers/forceps, and a host of other equipment if you plan on doing RF alignments.
ОтветитьDo you have any idea what would make a fm tuner not pick up stations on a sansui g 9000 db, I can hear a faint signal on really strong stations but nothing strong enough to listen to. I have checked continuity going into the receiver but I don't know what to do next . Everything else works as it should.
Ответитьawesome video and thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьFor a beginner like me , can you do a walk-through a average vintage amplifier schematic showing how the electricity flows.
No one has done this ?.
Cheers Matt U.K..
Love this. It's inspiring. I have two Magnavox Tube amps from the 1960s I need to recap. This will help!
ОтветитьHad a question. Have you repair MD players? I have one that will power on when plugged into a power source but wont work on the original battery and the new battery I got for it. Think you could fix it?
ОтветитьGreat demonstration!
ОтветитьI have an Onkyo 2500 and cannot get sound out of one speaker. Any video tips? This is not in my wheelhouse but am willing to try.
ОтветитьI’m searching for the record changer mechanism on an old console stereo and not having any luck. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
ОтветитьDo you do repairs for people by chance
Ответитьdon't you have to discharge those caps before pulling them?
Ответитьgreat video
ОтветитьJust asking!
ОтветитьJust curious, but did you test the caps with an ESR Meter first? Or maybe you already knew that particular cap was bad?!
ОтветитьHello came across your channel.... Do you fix 90s .SONY DAT AUDUO PLAYERS....all parts are there... Just tape arm has come a loose...if so please can I get your address to send it to... Plus the drive belt is still good so that's a plus...thanks
ОтветитьI've been working on a Magnavox astro sonic and the parts list does NOT have all the resistors listed just the power resistors
ОтветитьI love that vacuum desoldering tool.
Fantastic idea. I've just used those spring loaded ones or the bulbs. Neither are anywhere near as good on the circuit traces. You want to do it fast
When soldering using any tool please use a small fan to blow the fumes away from yourself. This is especially true for old lead/ tin solder. A face mask may fog up
your glasses, mine are cheaters so yeah I'm old,, and you won't be able to see the very fine work your doing.
Is there any courses available whereby I can learn to repair vintage stereo? Lets not let the skill and knowledge die out
ОтветитьYou should instruct folks to remove that old "Sony bond" glue before reinstalling new caps. It becomes corrosive and will literally eat through the leads of thru hole components..
ОтветитьShould you reflow solder other components while you're replacing caps?
ОтветитьPlease can you help me. I love my vintage audio so much, but people who did not know what they are doing have screwed everything up, done actual damage. I temporarily live in Pittsburgh area, but would bring my precious Polks and stackable turntable, Cd Players, tape deck, etc. to anyone who, knows how to get them back in shape. Or if you know anybody in this area, please recommend. The guys before cost me a fortune, told me I needed a needle, but no, it was a bent tone arm (not bent before they got hold of it) and didn't even know what a cartridge was). My life is so,sad without my music and I want it back. There is no way a digital speaker can ever produce the warm, emotionally deep music that comes out of LPs on an excellent turntable out of reverberating Polks. Bliss. Can you recommend someone to help. I don't care if they're in New York, if they can do the job. Thanks.
ОтветитьWonderful and informative video, I'm new to this, but I've seen some other videos like these, but yours is quite informative to watch, I'm planning to repair my old mini HiFi system, and like you said I manage to get it's servicing manual, Subscribed! 🙂
ОтветитьI'm not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out
pc computer repair
try Saankramer Electronic Magazine System (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my partner got great results with it.
Lead spacing is crucial when placing a capacitor order.
And sometimes the lead diameter can be just as important.
i hope to see u do more vintage repairs
ОтветитьBonne video, très interressant. Bravo !
ОтветитьNoway you live close to the state of Kentucky ? I would pay good for overhaul on G-8000 both driver boards and relay and power board I would love to get them overhauled something i wanna keep forever G-8000
ОтветитьHi and thanks for making this video. Any resources to replace faded or missing graphics and lettering on faceplates of classic receivers? Thanks
ОтветитьGreat video, What temperature do you use on your iron.
ОтветитьGreat videos, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!
It is so rewarding to keep these wonderful masterpieces of HiFi engineering alive. At the age of 71, I look back at amplifiers and receivers I would have liked to have when I was young, but could not afford, and tbey are still running thanks to guys like you. Thank you.
