I’m really disappointed that when you went on the balcony you didn’t give us a view of what it looked like straight down. And the hangers should be expected to handle that by separating them and getting something heavier to put on them like maybe ask for a couple of towels.

We’ve stayed in aft balconies on a couple of cruises on deck 6 and above. We didn’t notice much movement on either trip.

I will not cruise unless I can book an aft facing balcony. It has better views than on the sides and so relaxing watching that wake go off into the distance. I rarely encounter engine noise or vibrations. Best way to go!

Great video. Wanted to check out an aft stateroom before booking. We are now on the Odyssey of The Seas back-to-back in November 2023 in aft facing stateroom. Now I just have to figure out how to get the stateroom attendant to bring to loungers down to the room for us LOL

Was this a regular aft balcony or spacious aft balcony?!

We had aft balcony in Grand Princess... definitely more vibration but worth it for the wake view and bigger balcony!

Had an extended aft balcony on a cruise several years ago. No breeze and was always hot. When I woke up in the morning, the balcony was covered in cig butts. View was awesome.

We only book aft cabins, they're great.

Its tiny compared to a carnival suite. So narrow. Also dont like how the bed is near the entrance. Should be flipped with the lay out.

I've booked an aft silver junior suite with big balcony (J1) on Spectrum (younger sister to Odyssey) on the 12th deck. Its a much bigger room than this and comes with a bathtub. Can't wait for my cruise :). There are similar aft rooms on the 13th deck but not the best because deck 14 above is a public area :)

My wife and I are staying in an aft penthouse suite with large balcony on the Norwegian Sky in a couple weeks (Aug 12 sailing)…we plan on spending quite a bit of time out on that balcony….it looks amazing. This will be our first time in an aft cabin…looks like I made a wise choice based on this video…cannot wait. I also plan to spend extensive time “testing the fates”.

I LOVE it in the aft! Hahahah. Aft is awesome with one exception, if you fall into the water from an aft balcony, you are dead meat. At least with other balconies, you have a small chance.

Love aft facing rooms.. Always book them now. I figure if the movement feels "boatie" its supposed to and we don't mind it. Don't mind the walk either but we tend to like to relax on the balcony at night and drink and talk rather than immerse ourselves in the peopley stuff :)

We just got back on the carnival Paradise last week we had a aft facing window room and it was great plenty of room for two and lots of storage. Yes a little noisey leaving the dock and docking but sea days were fine. Would do it again.

We loved our aft cabin. Sadly it was not available on our last cruise!

Just what I always wanted, stand on bed to get to storage. If I were Royal Caribbean I would not like to be known for tiny shower pod. Think the hooks in shower are for wet swim suits, wouldn't towels get wet hanging in shower?

It seems funny that there's not more furniture on that massive extended balcony. Is it possible to request actual loungers? We sailed in an aft balcony years ago on the Carnival Pride, and LOVED it. One of my favorite things was how quiet it was; nobody is passing by in the hall except the neighbors, so no kids running around at all hours making noise 😎 I didn't mind the long walks to the elevators, it was good exercise given how much we were eating 😂 I wouldn't recommend an aft cabin for anyone prone to motion sickness, but we were drinking so much our bodies didn't expect the floor to be holding still 🤪

Really nice cabin! We really like the layout where the bed is by the bath and the sofa by the balcony doors. Just seems so much more roomy than the other way around. Fantastic balcony!

We always seek out Aft balcony cabins if they are available... not only are you away from foot traffic, but the "bonus space" on the balcony is a huge perk for us. I'm not super concerned about the walk to the elevators (as a previous poster mentioned, it's payment for the delicious food we enjoy on board)... what I would advise is watching for what's on the decks above. We'll usually try to get a cabin with one deck of other cabins above so we're not directly below the buffet, but if there's a party spot on the aft like NCL's Club H20 several decks of space are better... otherwise you need to be prepared to "relax" to the sound of dance music at all hours of the night...

Aft balconies are my favorite!!! I love the views and you don't get the wind you get on a forward or even a port/starboard.

We stayed in this exact cabin in Jan 21 and LOVED it. I would book it again in a heart beat. It made me love aft facing balconies.

My wife and I sailed the Odyssey awhile back and we ended up with an aft corner balcony. All I can say isWOW it was fantastic. I will be trying to score that same type of cabin on my next cruise.

Hope I can get my answer here... I want to book an aft Junior suite on Rhapsody of the Seas. I've seen the balcony and it's amazing. However I do suffer from motion sickness (though I was perfectly fine on my last cruise and didn't need to take anything) and I also heard that vibration from the engines is pretty pronounced in the aft cabins. Has anyone had these issues?

I think I will stick with mid-ship for cabins. Decks 6-8 preferred. Less motion. My wife is more sensitive to the motion. But have stayed in some forward and aft cabins. Not a fan.

We had an aft balcony on Disney Fantasy and it was the best cabin EVER! you definitely feel vibration maneuvers, not anything to worry about. We never had any ash.

We sailed in an aft cabin in our last cruise and I loved it. We were on Carnival. I never noticed them docking. Once we woke and had already docked, but never woke. Our hangers did swing on the first night but we just put the leftover hangers on the floor like you did.

Had the aft balcony deck 10 728 and the view was awesome, both at sea and in ports. Balcony was bigger than most. We also had the room next door (family) so we had them open the partition between the two balconies...outstanding.

aft cabins/suites will give a little bit more motion and sometimes a little cavitation from the prop but, the aft balcony is WAY worth it...take the unused hangers down no matter where you are...IMO
