Regarding the question about Dota vs League, as an oldhead, the Dota community is mad at Riot, but not because of the game itself. The games are very similar, but have enough different mechanics to not be a total ripoff. I view the games like Age of Empires vs Starcraft.

The reason Dota is mad at Riot has to do with absolutely scumbag behavior that they exhibited early in the game's lifespan in attempts to kill Dota and promote League. Don't want to get too long winded in a comment, but can do some googling on the scummy behavior Riot was doing before they solidified market share dominance.

Okay Rae, here's the thing:

--You want to branch out and have Ray Mond RP with more people than the usual people. Now is a perfect time for that. Since a good number of people you usually RP with aren't around, this would force you out of your comfort zone if that's actually what you want to do.
--You say you want to wait for an update...that will bring back your usual people, sure, and make it less likely you'll branch out, sure, but also, you'll rob yourself of the story RP potential you'd have right now. An update means people will be stuck on the grind, they'll lock in on their gangs to progress faster than other gangs, they won't be as open to engaging with story RP. Right now the skys the limit with story.
-You say you've watched clips and have seen some of whats been going on without Ray Mond but I promise you haven't seen it all. But even what you have seen are you okay with Ray Mond not getting to learn about or engage in any of it at all? If you wait until 5.0 Ray probaly won't get most of these unlocks, and a lot of story would just be done and over with. If you have ideas based on 4.0 story and lore, it may all be worthless in 5.0 when people have moved on or just don't mention things to Ray and give her unlocks you want to work with.
--It could be many months or a year for an update, will you really risk waiting that long and losing so much potential story and interest in the return of Ray mond? With the new server 5.0 people may not mention much of anything from 4.0. Even the impact of Ray Mond coming back will be less because it won't be special, everyone will be newly coming back to the city. It could be a timeskip, it could be a memory wipe. You may not be able to continue where you left off. The rules for 5.0 could be very different and everything you put into 4.0 could just poof be gone, no resolution to those stories ever.

Feels like you are doing yourself and your character a disservice to keep her out of some of the best story RP to ever happen and not use this perfect opportunity to meet new characters and create great story without everyone distracted by heists and fancy mechanic updates. And feels like there's a real risk 4.0 story and lore may not be allowed to carry over to 5.0. Would you leave a Netflix worthy show incomplete forever?
