During halftime in a Olympic game vs Serbia, when Serbs were up by double digits on USA, Embiid was seen in a tunnel trying to beg for Serbian passport in a hope he would get a gold medal in the end. To his dismay and his luck, Serbs rejected him and USA ended up winning the game with a big comeback with zero input from Embiid. He did though then ask to be voted MVP of the game and the whole tournament.

This is the problem with the process. They raised Embiid to think his presence was a prize and not to go out there and get it. The human body is not a car or a piece of tech you don’t look at how much “mileage” he has the human body gets stronger by doing. Players in the 70s 80s and 90s got hurt less and played more and more physically. Those players bodies were conditioned for the grind. These players today stay hurt because they don’t even attempt to play all the games. Some guys physically can’t do it and that’s unfortunate but it’s not a surprise Ben Embiid and to a lesser degree Kawhi can’t make it through is because their organizations didn’t make them play. Manage a player when they get hurt you can’t protect them from getting hurt.

I understand the Embiid criticism, but I truly don't think this is a matter of "attitude" or "not wanting it enough". If his medical staff says he isn't ready, end of story. How many careers have we seen ruined from players playing through significant injuries in recent years? Kawhi and Isaiah Thomas come to mind.
