Yeah, this idea for this movie was pretty much stolen. Repo! The Genetic Opera was the first to do this, the only difference is it isn't a musical.

@thebobbism do you really think the creators of repo! the genetic opera agreed to this being made from their ideas? No. So, yeah, it's a cheap rip-off.

This movie disappointed me, it was really good up until the end which made no sense whatsoever with the dream machine or whatever it was called. It is designed to produce only happy thoughts, yet he imagined his skin of his chest was being detatched and ended up cutting into the woman he loved with a machete. So either, the dream machine was a piece of shit and had many errors, OR shit script.

The idea may be unoriginal, but that's not surprising. Our culture has so many movies and books that steal ideas from others. (see: Twilight and the vampire craze) However, I'm willing to reserve judgment on whether or not it's a ripoff of Repo! until I watch the entire movie through. (no matter how obsessed I am with Repo! I swear to myself I will not become Fan-Dumb.)

though I like repo the genetic opera I have to say this is an interesting looking movie, and lets face it, without the music its not really like repo opera apart from the organs bit

I keep telling this to EVERYBODY who bitches about it. The book's original title is called The Reposession Mambo, and it was written by Eric Garcia. Everybody who's complaining needs to read it and they'll see just how different the two of them are, even if they share some underlying themes.

i saw this in 2010 and liked it now i thought about it bought it to watch again see if i still liked it and i did the unrated version is very nice this is my new movie and i have the heart and racoon eyes problem now to prove it jake was a really great friend he was kinda of crazy but he was a friend till the end he never wanted to hurt jude law great film 10 out of 10 .

Man, if only I never saw “Brazil” then this films “ending” would be brilliant. The script sucks, as does the direction, only thing good about this film were the leads. Whitaker and Law were perfect, Braga and Schreiber as well.

Great acting, filmmaking, entertaining and a suspenseful thriller throughout but like always the ending has to make sense. Now I get why the pink door room surgery was unrealistic. Though the beach scene also wasn't really believable, I too wanted it to be real with a happy ending but unfortunately, the twist with the fantasy producing brain technology came out of nowhere. So is he going to be stashed in storage somewhere. Too bad they didn't know how to resolve it. Unlike the movie Brazil where the girlfriend tragically dies and the hero finally goes completely insane from fear abut imagines themselves in Nature at peace in a remote trailer home, Repo Man finale didn't work. I never watched this because I thought it was the other film called Repo Man until I read the names of this great cast!
