the gains in kernels 6.12 and 6.13 are looking good for AMD users
Ответитьis there's a software for 8bitdo in linux?
Ответитьdo you know how to enable lavd in arch?
Ответитьgreat video as always man, it feels good knowing all the improvements happening on my OS 💪🏻
ОтветитьMan, your work is amazing. Thanks for sharing
Ответитьlooking forward for the 6.13
ОтветитьWhat does this mean for linux distros going forward? Will they get updated to this kernel?
ОтветитьCan't watch this video !! All that background changing is driving my eyes crazy !!
ОтветитьI’m using cachyos, but i have to use the alternative LTS kernel which is 6.6, it’s been 3 months now. if i use the latest kernel that’s suggested by the distro my wifi isn’t stable. Just tried 6.12, yup, the connection drops if it’s handling high speed internet traffic for a few minutes and i have to remove the dongle and attach it back
ОтветитьWill the AMD optimization related changes for 6.13 be enabled on its own once the system updates to 6.13 from a prior kernel or will these changes only be enabled on fresh new installs?
Ответитьim excited for the DRM panic message because users of distros like gentoo and custom kernel users will probably be able to create their own custom "tux screens of death"
ОтветитьHappy to see some of these features were already backported to CachyOS a while ago (few months?). And kernel 6.12 is also available now.
ОтветитьI believe the new amd gpu power management profile also fixes a major issue I have with amd. I like to run x11 without a compositor for absolute best latency and smoothness and in that mode the gpu power usage is very low. When I move the cursor around the cursor can sometimes lag, so it doesn't move the amount expected. This means if I move the cursor in a circle it will not move in a circle randomly. It also produces random glitches on the screen. This is an issue with hardware cursor plane in amd drivers.
ОтветитьWas decently surprised with the kernel improvements (I was also missing the amd-ucode package), STALKER 2 running a lot better now
Ответитьget a haircut
ОтветитьLinux going woke
ОтветитьI missed the 6.12 arch kernel so am currently installing 6.12.1
Ответитьthe better support for touch rings/strips on graphics tablets is very exciting for me. while my tablet does offer an X11 driver, it doesn't work in wayland sessions - and I kinda need to run wayland due to its better handling of ICC profiles, so this is very exciting indeed.
ОтветитьI can finally disable that zero rpm feature for my rx7800xt 😍
Fan is off for way too long while the RAM is getting quite hot (70°C).
Feel that limits the performance and since everything is fine under windows...
Good video thanks
Ответитьlooking good.
ОтветитьI just want to point out that the main point for DRM panic is having the ability to display the kernel panic screen. Currently if you get a kernel panic while a graphical session is running X11 or Wayland it just freezes on the last frame and you get no output of the kernel panic message, making debugging difficult. DRM panic enables the kernel to draw over the graphical session and display error message whether it's a wall of text or a QR code even over a frozen graphical session so you actually get some error output as opposed to just freeze. So people (mostly on the phoronix forums) that say we don't need BSOD in linux should read what the thing is even supposed to do before b*tching about it. It's a great feature and it's absolutely needed. /rantover
