Steelseries is such a joke, it's sad people are still fooled into buying their products, not just mice.

So that silver side button--is it a sniper button aka DPI clutch? I haven't been tell if those are functional for that in SteelSeries mice.

I just can't trust reviews anymore.
I bought some cheap no-name gaming mouse when I forst got my PC and got years of great use out of it.
Then I replaced it with a highly recommended Logitech G502 Hero. It had premium feeling materials and even weights inside... but it sucked. It wasn't that comfortable to use, and the rubber on the side didnt help with grip it just collected my dead skin cells and shit. It was impossible to clean. And all the mouse keys besides the main three required I install Logitech's spyware on my computer to use. Then It started double clicking roughly 6 months in. And a year into using it, the double clicking (and letting go of hold-clicks) got to an unusable frequency.

I replaced it with a Deathadder (first version) for $40. Luckily that recommendation is working out so far, though I dont like how the mouse auto-installs spyware onto my PC.

I appreciate reviews like this to give me insight but
I have no vlue whats true or not anymore in online PC accessory reviews.

No disrespect from me at all and I understand where you are coming from but I would actually would disagree. I have been using my Rival 5 for about 6 months now and I absolute love this mouse. I use all buttons on the mouse. I love the toggle top button on the side I play FPS and I use them as my grenades. Like I said no disrespect I just have to disagree but to each their own.

Pros: Shape, the weight, looks, nice rgb and clicks
Cons: cable is ass and bad placement of buttons.
It’s really not soo bad but the cons can definitely be a dealbreaker for many

I've been hoping for a light weight mouse with extra buttons since lightweight mice became a thing. The best for me so far has been the HyperX Pulsfire Raid but that is still too heavy for FPS and has the standard stiff cable. Guess I'll just have to stick to having 2 mice on my desk.

Not sure what you're talking about here. All of the buttons seem well placed to me. The forward thumb button is easy to press with my medium hands, and the narrow button above the two standard side buttons is easy to toggle with the thumb as well. The cable is a cable..... The mouse is pretty light.... This is a functionally flawless mouse. If you don't like it, that's due to your personal preferences. This is the best value mouse on the market. It has every feature you want from a wired gaming mouse and it's less than $50.

he just left out the fact that you can change the CPI mode and the very nice and changeable RGB. also that the CPI button thats on the top is much lower the rival 600 and 650 and that gets in the way in a lot of gamers and can mess them up the the uncomfortable potion your hand is in however thats not the case for the rival 5

I'm glad I didn't see this video before I picked it up. I'm sure all the points are valid, however it's pretty perfect for me. I can reach all the side buttons, I love the shape and weight, my cable seems to be better than shown in the video and I got it at half rrp. The only button I do have a problem with is the up toggle, as I find it's too stiff and the mouse lifts off the mat before it actuates

Preaty confortable to me. I dont see any issues using any of the buttons . Even the sniper button is at reach .Its more or less about the same size as my old G502Hero and i got very used to it very fast. And that Up/Down button on it i have it set for volume up/down witch saves me the pain of manualy lowering the volume on my studio monitors (Presonus Eris 3.5 BT). I could definetly see its not a mouse for everyone , not every mouse is good for every one , but for me its actualy perfect. It moves great , has lots of buttons , RGB its a bit to light for my taste but its not bad ( i like very hevy mice 100+ grams) I used my old G502 with all the weights 140g.Per total for 50 bucks i personaly say its a good mouse , but hey every man has different tastes

I really disagree with the buttons. For competitive games, yeah, they aren't nearly as useful as the normal 2 thumb buttons that are on this mouse. But for games like Metro Exodus. Prey, or any singleplayer game with lots of bindings, being able to put, say, my lighter (Metro Exodus) on the weird paddle thing is actually really handy.

And I prefer that over tilt click on a scroll wheel. Why? Because when I want to use middle click, I have this tendency to put sideways pressure on the wheel. Tilt click means that I often middle click and tilt click when I only want to middle click, and it gets old fast. The paddle thing is actually really handy.

Hell, even that far away silver button is nice for things like pulling up the map.

I would definitely try this mouse. I don't hold my mouse with my palm like you appeared to. I hold it with something between a fingertip and claw grip, and my mouse is always slanted. So I believe I would be able to reach that front button easily. My grip would also not get in the way of that up and down lever button on the side. What I really want is a mouse with two primary mouse buttons, 4 normal buttons on the side, and two dpi buttons behind the mouse wheel. But this doesn't seem to exist without having other things that break the deal. Like Alienware's switches that accidentally click repeatedly, or Logitech who puts two extra little buttons attached to the left mouse button, and places them exactly where I press the left mouse button most of the time. This seems like the closest thing to a perfect mouse to me. And, thankfully, it isn't ultra light. This would be the lightest mouse I have ever used, and I worry about suddenly halving mouse weight for all these strange new 'ultra light" models I see popping up recently. This would be only a touch lighter than I am used to.

Second mouse on warranty - two months...

Not even cheapo 5 dollar mice were this bad.

The Rival 5 is a great mouse, and the buttons are perfectly fine, as a person who uses this mouse daily it's really good quality this video is silly as different mice are made for different people like hand shape, and the buttons may not be good for one persons hand but are good for a anothers, just because it doesnt fit in one individual hand shape doesnt mean it's a bad mouse. Also the cable is great and really flexible, light weight to and long enough

I don't really use side buttons as I mostly use a controller for gaming. So I kinda like that they are more out the way. It would be nice if they had 2 versions. One without side buttons, And one with. But revise the design as you say. I ordered one yesterday so we'll see. Upgrading from Rival 3.

the rightclick sounds like it is bad or going bad, hear the difference on the clicks, its more hollow..
Ive had a lot of mice go bad with the buttons register and de-register on off constantly while holding down the button ( i do that a lot while playing some games like wow ) and this sound is what most of them sounded like when they were bad or just about to, the logitech g5 / g500 / mx518 / g3 and Razor deathadder and deathadder wireless and the steelseries Rival 710.

Now i got a few roccat mice and many of them have another issue while is the scroll wheel that sometimes skips or jumps up when scrolling down and vice versa..

I dont know how they keep fucking up when building these mice, we pay so much for them and they break after a few months or maybe a year ?!
