I’d imagine it’s because the foils tend to be unplayable pringles and were actually bought more than the non-foil originally. Like foils are just so bad these days cause they can’t really be used in a deck since they’ll bend and warp even inside a sleeve.

Damn, Joey Moss... don't let that depression get the best of you, man! If you need to do counseling and medication, do that. If you need to make changes, do that. I can always look at my children and spend time with them and that helps me majorly in getting out of a funk/depression/whatever...GL with everything and I hope you can figure it out. i personally prefer the non-foils of a lot of newer sets. With some exceptions of course, I feel like the watermellon slice of a card for overall darkend art isn't worth the increase in msrp

The foils didn't plummet in value. They were never in drastically higher demand. In the older Secret Lairs where you had an option for foil or non-foil, the quality of the foil versions was not great. Extra Life 2020 was the lowest point. I'm guessing that was around the same time as Commander Legends 1 because likewise those foils were not very consistent.

After the color and print quality improved, foils only occasionally were worth more than non-foil.

Mystic Remora has been the most striking recent example of the foil being in way higher demand than the non-foil. Though it is the only foil version that exists. Typically the prices are much closer.

Pringles aside (doesn't bother me) if all foils maintained the quality of the original few drops Secret Lair foils probably would be in consistently higher demand. The originals were really striking.

Non-foil holds up much better, foils can be great (TSR) but also insanely bad (Commander Legends 1) - not really worth picking up the foils if you don't know what you're getting with pringling

Joey. I used to get about 1/3 of the Secret Lairs, but I gave up before the Strixhaven one. I got non-foil whenever I could because I don't like current foiling. Non-foil for maximum clarity of art!

Make foils great again!
I only buy special treatments like etched or gilded or other special foilings since these tend to not curl.
They definetly have to change something on the normal rainbow foils, its such garbage quality!

I only have one unopened secret lair which is the Walking Dead secret lair. I only bought two. Opened one and kept the other one sealed. And it's actually the only secret lair i ever bought more than 1 of.

The foil planet lands in unfinity are sure worth alot of money.

Those Kaldheim Showcases are way too underpriced in comparison to the cards in it. I mean Uro and Kroxxa alone.......

I would recommended anyone who can purchase any of the secret lair sets dropped in honor of mtg 30th anniversary to do so word on the street the secrets are going to be rares from the Anniversary packs coming out I cannot confirm or deny what rares but that’s what I’m hearing
