My first pair of subs were in a dodge ram when I was 16. They were in a thunderform enclosure that fit underneath the back seat. They were thunder 6000 10's powered by a JBL BP300.1. It wasn't loud enough for my liking but it was pretty sweet.

I honestly cant even hate on mtx. The terminator 12s were my first subs and i loved them. Ended up selling them for 100 bucks

1) That complexity of board means, if it fries, it's toast. 2) Surprised that with this much capability, there's no cooling fan(s).

I had a thunder 4405 5 channel. Lots of power for it's size and very flexible, perfect for a single amp setup. Unfortunately it blew a channel after about 18 months and I swapped for an Alpine which is still kicking 15 years later in a friend of mine's car.

If anyone needs some serious caps, I'd recommend getting some Maxwell's from Ebay & building yer own bank. Around $300 still can get u 1,000 True Farads @ 16 volt max. Need 12 of the 3,000 Farad 2.7-3 volt caps. Make two 6 packs , each 6 caps ran in series together to get the voltage up which drops it to 500 Farad. Then run both 6 packs in parallel for 1,000 Farads. Will work without, But are always better off building a balancing circuit to help keep the caps charging evenly. Will come out to around 128,000 Joules of power. Will start yer vehicle easier then a battery even if is below 0deg out side.

okay so power and price.....the JP95 T for less than half the price with click potentiometer's and "tiffany rca's" kicks that MTX butt.....

Looks really nice...brings back memories of hanging out at the Circuit City Road shop...Of coarse I am left heartbroken because we don't make anything in America anymore...I wouldn't dream of buying one, but it seems as nice as other Chinese stuff...I don't care for class D for satellite Channels

Actually pretty impressive. At first i thought it was pretty pricey, but quality product from a quality name, and does more than its rated in all categories. How ya say D? Color Me Impressed!

Back in 2002 bought a mtx bluethunder amp from a friend it was nice for a single 12 jl audio. I have to give 2 Down4sound for making the bench mark on the clip light. I know other amps like rockford fostgate had the clip lights. But it wasn't common. Down4sound made everyone rethink how to make it happen the competition started thank you Down4sound

Very impressive amplifier. Especially the dynamic power available. Obviously intended to compete with JL, JBL/Infinity and RF.
Would be interesting to see a 5 channel shootout.

Love seeing a 5 channel amp 🤣 I hardly ever see them so it’s great to see some coverage on them. I’d love to see a few of the BassFace amps on the channel. They do a 5 channel amp with 4 channels powered by a class A/B (90wrms per channel) and the sub channel is Class D (1000wrms) and it costs £180 here in the UK 🤣

It did fine with 0.8ohm, Imagine what it can do ZERO ohm, ZERO. No resistance = unlimited power.

Looks like MTX is starting to step their game back up and that’s a good thing because I use to really like MTX back in the day.
I have to say though, this amp really reminds me of the old school JL Audio Slash series amps in the way they are designed.

For the money, would you consider this better than the JP95? I say no. Opinions?

My very first amp and subs (8") were MTX back in 1995 or 6. Haven't spent on a system since. Now that I'm in the market again, it's nice to know that they still make great gear. Thanks.

Ive never been a fan of MTX. But cool to see the testing results for the guys who do like them.

Another pointless rear x-over setup on a 5-ch amp. Needs to be bandpass selectable from 60hz on the hp side, to 2500 hz on the lp side. Use it to run midrange or mid bass in a 3-way front stage. Or amps just need to come with comprehensive dsp built-in, like some of JLs 5ch stuff. 5 ch amps need subsonic filter on the sub ch, & bp on the rear x-over, with sensible set points.

I was wondering if you might have done a test on a DD m2c I can't seem to find any numbers other than factory spec

H&H Gregg was the only place in town that sold MTX, and MTX was barely ever seen as ppl thought it was as not a good brand!~

I like mtx amps. Never had a problem with them. I used to run the blue mtx thunder amps way back in the day

Nice performance on this unit, but the price is a bit steep compared to what you can get now days, especially a brand that hasn't been what they used to be for a while.

Hopefully, this line marks their return to quality.

Your should test the ZK AMP, they all over the place, top sales, little amp big power? And they are very cheap too.

I had a 200w 2chan MTX Thunder bridged to usually a 12in sub that I've had since the 90s, that moved from car to car to car over the years. I lived that amp! It just never died.
