5 Cheap Fly Rods Worth Looking At!

Great video Milan and very true. Two days ago I went fly fishing. I had around 1200 dollars between waders, rod, reel, line and flies. I drove there in an XT5. Had an amazing day,smiles all around. Yesterday went shopping with my wife for her new XT5. Next to the dealership in town. There is a nice river that runs right past the dealership. Out front of the dealership there is a bus stop. Standing there is guy in his twenties waiting for the bus. He was dressed in in the cheapest boot waders and had a 100 dollar spin combo. I asked him how his fishing went and his face just lit up with a big smile. In summary its not what you spend. Just get outside and fish!

I was looking at an eagle claw at Sportsmans Warehouse on 26 Nov. I think the 3 or 7 wt 7 foot was $34.95 U.S.

If you buy direct from maxcatch you get a better rod than the ebay, amazon, aliexpress sellers. Trust me they are two different rods. Its like theyve got two different marketing approaches.

I have a 6'6" 4 weight CGR. Paid $69.95, U.S. Love it.

That little CGR 5’9” 3 weight is a real hoot as a dock rod or small creek rod, not sure if that model is available any more. Another thing to consider are the older rods on the auction site, sometimes you find some really good ones for not much money. My favorite White River rod, an older one, came from there. Also, I get it on the Orvis warranty, and to add, they might not fix your rod correctly for that money you spend - my Helios ZG was repaired with a very cheap quality tip top guide, not even close to the quality of the original.

Didnt know the cabelas white rivers were so good. Been enjoying my maxcatch rods.

I have several Winston rods. I picked up a Lamson purist 8’9” -4wt. This rod is so damn underrated. Give it a go

A fly fishermen using poor casting technique will make a good rod look bad, someone using correct techique will make a bad rod look good and someone using correct techique with a good rod will amaze you. All rods are not created equal, just as all fisherman are not created equal, buy the one that fits you best. I've been fly fishing for 40 years and can't double haul for crap, my son mastered it in a week...Argh! He can do things I can only dream about in terms of distance and accuracy, so when he plopped down a 1000$ for a Helios, I didn't bat a eye, because that's his rod for the next 40 years. I first learned on a fiberglass rod and I still have an attraction for them, so try before you buy.

Echo Lift blows all of these rods out of the water $100. I have owned both, the Echos are just way better.
