This is a FPP controller I prototyped in MotionBuilder.
You can move, look around, jump and 'shoot' in real-time with a Ps4 controller.

I use a Joystick Device as an input in a Relation Constraint, to position a locator in all four directions depending on the joystick axis (or 0 if the joystick is untouched).
The world-position of that locator gives me a vector which I plug in a Displacement node, and that displacement directly moves around my Player controller (same principle for the rotation of the camera, which is parented to the Player).
The jump, the rifle recoil and the muzzle flash rely on the 'Counter with Start Stop' with a value going from 0 to 100 (when you press X or R2). That value drives a FCurve Number (%) node which allows me to get a nice curve to drive some values (Y translation of the capsule ; X rotation of the gun ; Scale, Color and Transparency of the Muzzle flash...).
Some values are tweakable via some Custom Properties.

First I did that for the fun, but actually it does help pre-visualizing animations from the Player’s perspective, testing metrics, and prototyping new ideas quickly.
It's also a nice way of showing other team members how a mob could react to the Player and what-not...

Disclaimer: The creature itself is pre-canned (no actual AI). I just assembled its anims in Story mode, and I'm moving around the FPP while the creature plays back.

- The creature model was made from Ludwig Dresch and Romain Pommier, and is from an unnanounced project I work on as a rigger/animator.
- Music is 'BFG Division' from DOOM (2016), composed by Mick Gordon (slightly edited). Just because it's epic :D (nothing to do with the aforementioned project)
