My pedestal sump pump has been running reliably for 24 years now. Not sure how long it was there before I bought the house. Granted, some submersibles run a long time too. Some of the best (most expensive) ones as many as 6 or 7 years before they need a switch. Pedestal pumps make a little noise. Typically basement flooding happens very quietly.
ОтветитьPedestal pumps may be noisy, they are much easier to service. Submersible pumps have a sealed motor (obviously), but pedestals have the motor exposed. That way, you can oil the motor bearings, fix the switch, even replace the motor itself if it goes bad. The float switch is also adjustable, which is a feature submersibles don't have.
ОтветитьI love a pedestal sump pump. I have access to motor and switch above the water so much easier to assess motor condition and I always keep a spare switch. Yes, I have actually replaced a failed switch during a storm without any flooding. PSC Motors will give you signs when motor is going bad. They run noisy, they run hot etc. Main positive is a $10 switch backup part instead of having a complete, new in box, submergible, back-up sump pump that you seem to prefer when it stops working...
ОтветитьThis was a poor and biased video. Obviously the Omer wants you to buy the submersible pump so that they can come and replace it in 5 five years or so. Pedastal pump seem to make the most sense.
