I’ve been doing it for over 1 years and ever since day 2 it’s felt way more comfortable/natural, saves me time on my commute too.
ОтветитьOver 2000 accidents have happened since the making of this video 😂😂😂
ОтветитьLol everyone yells at me for left foot braking and tells me it's dangerous and when I get inan accident ima hit the wrong pedal lmao
ОтветитьIf you are braking, why the hell do you need your other foot over the throttle at the same time? You only do one at a time anyways. And then how do you push the clutch in if your left foot braking? Cross the right foot over the left? 🤦♂️
ОтветитьFor a car with an automatic transmission, it's a very simple calculation. Car has two pedals, I have two feet.
ОтветитьFun fact... Left foot braking was "invented" by Finnish rally driver Rauto Aaltonen and made popular by Swedish Bjorn Waldegaard on the Group B era
Ответитьfirst of all, It not safety.
Ответитьthanks for saying it out loud!
ОтветитьWhat i dont understand is why wouldnt everyone use their left foot on the brakes? to me it makes sense because u have one foot focused on the gas on the right, and the left foot focused on the brakes, but for some reason it's seen as wierd .
ОтветитьLeft foot braking is awesome if you don't drive hard on twisty roads, especially in Europe when roads are very narrow and change of directions its constantly happening. If you left foot brake you have to sustain yourself with the hands on the steering wheel and if you are cornering at the limit is very very dangerous. So using the left knee to not move around too much is a necessity if you are driving a car with standard seats.
ОтветитьFun fact: It's a bad idea to try this for the first time on a public road
ОтветитьBeen a CDL driver for years. This just sounds like a solution to a non existent problem.
ОтветитьLast week at a job the home owner told to go ahead and park in the driveway. As I was backing and got about 10 feet from the jeep in the driveway and went to stop the truck speed up. I'm S...t and tried to panic brake and rammed the jeep pushing it about 5 feet sliding all four tires so I hit it pretty hard. It is my routine to wear a body camera when working so I watched the footage. The camera had turned down on the chest harness and was looking at my feet. My left foot was on the rake the whole time. Only thing that makes since is the right foot was pushing on the gas too. I have been left foot braking mostly for years for all the reasons you covered. I back into my own driveway every day and there is a motor cycle and a garage door within 5 feet of where I stop. Never an issue. NO drinking or drugs.
ОтветитьIt took me a couple of days to get smoothe with left-foot braking but now it’s second nature. I don’t know why this isn’t part of all drivers Ed.
ОтветитьHow do you downshift while left foot braking or stop engine from dying? Because you can't take your left foot while hard braking. I really wonder.
Ответитьso gamers got it right all along
ОтветитьGood video, but wow! Some commenters below have missed some important driving skills.
1. Never ride the brakes. 2. In a standard transmission vehicle never ride the clutch. You should have learned this when you learned to drive. Both practices result in rapid parts wear and possible failure. This is a very basic skill.
Drive automatics two-footed to avoid pedal error. Watch some car wreck videos and see how often pedal error occurs.
The thing about the machine analogy is that the single input machine is designed for the least error possible. Obviously if you're a trained rally driver your instincts are going to be better, but I get why 1 foot pedal operation is the lowest common denominator technique.
ОтветитьFinally a driver with a brain 🤌
ОтветитьOnly reason. You want a new car.
ОтветитьAmerican 😂
Not driving my car buddy 😂
This guy clearly is a bad driver, just imagine being behind him on the road what would you be thinking watching him doing this shit
ОтветитьLets say im in 4th and a deer jumps out, if im left foot braking and i get on the brake hard, wont i eventually stall out? Wouldn’t I need to get to the clutch to avoid that? Beginner lol
Ответитьif you can afford driving with two feet and know how to do it properly, you have a clear advantage over ''1 feet drivers''
ОтветитьIm capable of using left foot braking however, I see it as useless in most automatic vehicles that dont have the pedals adjusted to your liking. Especially with touch sensitive brakes that already jump to %45 brake power. I used to do it in a honda civic manual sense it felt comfortable to switch from clutch to the brake. Now in a CRV jt feels way too uncomfortable to even try it. I can do it but its truly pointless imo.
ОтветитьWith standard car seats I think left foot braking is worse in most scenarios, bc you can't push of your left leg for stability.
With a racing seat and harnass, this changes. But even then, with a manual you still have to use the clutch a lot.
It feels kinda weird to do in a manual car. You have to always keep in mind, what exactly are you going to do later. Like, if you brake hard, you'll need a clutch so you need to brake with right foot, while braking in order to transfer weight is way better with left foot braking. However, I am a beginner and don't have much skills and experience.
ОтветитьI would really wish Americans stop justifying something in context of "emergency situations".
Pretty much for everything that requires extra training and additional skillset (be it firearms, walking cats, pouring water out of a bottle, driving a car), if you look for a video named "reasons to do this in this way", every host will talk about "emergency situations" as if everyone is a highly-trained first responder.
In an emergency, fight/flight/freeze/submit will force you to either do nothing or do EVERYTHING. Your brain suddenly goes second gear, pedal to the metal, at highway speeds.
Your typical average driver will therefore hit BOTH pedals if feet are situated on both, as the body is fully tensed up and there's not enough time to actually appreciate the situation.
Emergency situations are emergencies, and their lack of commonality requires intense training to prepare for. Advanced/performance/racing/emergency services drivers practice and train, so that the skills are in their muscle memory, thus allowing them to semi-automate their reactions on the road. To them, this video is unnecessary, as they don't require convincing.
Now, the reasons for left foot braking are indeeed very advantageous - faster response on both brake and throttle, ability to trail brake, ability to control car balance. Those are all valid reasons to learn and hone the technique, because they help a driver (that is willing to practice said technique) improve his ability to drive the car.
But talking about left foot braking for emergency situations is pretty much like teaching super flashy taekwondo kicks under the premise that they will help survive against home robberies. A direct correlation is being made, it's unnecessary.
I have been driving over 25 years and have always left foot braked. So many people would give me crap about it or thought it was weird saying that I drive wuth 2 feet. My perspective was just as you described with reaction time. It always just felt right to me and made sense.
ОтветитьMy Tacoma shuts down using brake and gas at the same time.
ОтветитьLFB really makes me want a DCT, fast auto, or a dogbox manual. I don't like the idea of it with a synchrobox.
Ответитьi need to practice left foot braking, tried it a few times left foot was wayyy to heavy lol
ОтветитьWhen traveling at 60mph you cover the ground at 88 feet a second. It makes a difference.
ОтветитьI drive various types of trucks truck to trails and stray trucks. And I find left with breaking exceptionally helpful. Since you don't really need to use the clutch
ОтветитьLFB was one of the best things i learned behind the wheel. i had driven a manual for years. one day my ankle felt super stiff and for some reason, i just couldnt rotate left and right but i needed to take a short drive somewhere. tested out LFB through the first two turns. thanks to muscle memory from manuals, i managed it well. a week into LFB, i had a cyclist pop out from nowhere behind a bush. i was stopped at a stop sign. i had already started putting pressure on the gas when that cyclist popped into my FOV and my left foot planted firmly on the brakes even before i could register what was going on and my right foot was still feathering the gas before letting off completely. this happened a couple of years ago and i'm still LFB to this day though not as much.
ОтветитьIs it bad that i like to downshit while braking with just my left foot
Ответитьno big deal. i can drive both auto and manual. also both left and right foot braking at will with equal sensitivity and power.
Ответитьimo if you need left foot braking on the streets ur pressing the gas too much and without thinking
ОтветитьIt will seem completely counter-intuitive, but I've actually started left foot braking when using the one-pedal mode in my EV. I found that if you release the throttle, there is a slight delay before regen activates. By left foot braking, I can blend in the regen a bit more predictably, or squeeze the brake harder if I need the actual brakes, and back to regen or gas in a smoother motion.
ОтветитьLOL this whole time I didnt know you were in NH! Only hour away from me. Cant wait to do the drift school
ОтветитьIn manual car there are more times when you have to press brake and clutch together (clutch slightly later than brake ) compared to accelerator and brake together. So I assume, it's better to brake with right foot on Manual. On automatic though, left foot braking makes more sense.
Ответитьif there was a 4th pedal we;d use all 4 at the same time
Ответить2 other reasons im surprised he didnt mention: if youre driving alot, say many hours in the day, having 1 foot do 1 job rather than 1 foot working 2 jobs while the left is unemployed, drastically balances the work and greatly reduces fatigue. And 2: off of red lights, if it takes say 2 or 3 tenths to go from the brake onto the gas and then getting rolling with right foot braking, u can instantly be that 2 or 3 tenths quicker to get rolling off the line. Very much helpful if youre in a lane that ends say 2 or 3 hundred meters after the lights, im often at 10-15km/hr, and accelerating, casually driving not punching it or racing at all, before the guy/gal beside me just starts rolling.
Ответитьleft foot breaking just feels way more safe and natural to me. Didint actually realise people had agressive arguments online over this. It seems that some people that can't do left foot breaking get really angry at those that can.
ОтветитьHi, Gilbert here from Uganda, oooh my God I enjoy driving one of these days because of left foot braking skills from your tutorials. I have learnt how to follow a lead car during high performance emergency driving. I keep watching your videos and am happy. thank u Team O'NEIL
ОтветитьHow do you come to a full stop with LFB when you have to put in the clutch?
ОтветитьI can’t get over the lineman boots. The sportevas…..
ОтветитьIf you break that fast the rear car is gonna chrash to you
ОтветитьShould you left foot brake in an automatic car?
Ответить
