Whomever you are, thanks for taking on this Eddie project! It's great to hear and see him. Delighted that his life and music are being documented. Ask him about his art.
ОтветитьOh, I did. He would have been a great Surrealist, had he not turned to Music. It was a pleasure to see his work.
ОтветитьJoe Diorio once told me that Diehl was one of his favorite players from way back.
Ответитьthe tone!!!!!!!!
Ответитьpencap23 - Eddies' tone is old school. First he has a 34 D'Angelico arch top.He added a pickup himself, just to increase the volume but it has no volume control, so he uses a volume pedal, which he uses with his foot, in the mix to the amp. But primarily, he is still an analog guy. His album with Hank Jones, from 5 years ago, was done on tape. Imagine that in this day and age. Thanks for writing.
ОтветитьEddie loved Hank and his playing. Eddie really doesn't get a lot of playing time on the album he did with Hank. But that was Eddie, he was a SOLID rhythm player. He felt the heartbeat of each tune. He still plays around Poughkeepsie where he lives and works. I see him every time he goes out. Thanks for your words. When I see him next I will tell him about it.
Ответитьthe guitar sounds sweet.
Ответитьwhat's the tune playing in the background at the beginining?
ОтветитьThank UptownMovies for sharing this beautiful playing! Eddie is really a treasure
How's Eddie recently? Thanks again
Being a fan of Hank Mobley I stumbled upon the name of Eddie Diehl, as I bought the Mobley Blue Note Sessions 1963 - 70. Thanks for a very nice movie. Great musician and always welcome to get tidbits about Mobley’s career.
