Looking back at it, I love the MKX gameplay but everything else about it was the worst of the NRS games imo. Looking back I really hate the art style and look of it.

personally i feel that X did not live up to the hype after the insanely good 9. Factions were really bad and ultimately pointless. the rotating towers added some flair but also did not feel great. I was a casual player and I felt that the story mode was too easy even on hard difficulty. Invasion was just a terrible mode to begin with. I felt that shinnok was a bad villain in this game and the story just did not feel great. i disliked almost every new character and found them annoying most of the time. I did not like variations as it felt restricting not having access to all moves at once. MK9s story was very long (obviously they adapted three games) but MKX felt super short and replaying it recently, beat it in 3 hours. The was super cool at first but after I had unlocked every location, loading in and having to manually walk to far areas just to open the chests really bogged it down. I ended up not being a fan of MKX but having just gotten the platinum on both X and 11 this week, i can safely say at least it did not have constant rng thrown into every corner of the game possible (Krypt, towers and their loot, a SHOP?!)

Fighting games are so isolated and special as a genre. A game you have to seriously think about to get better at. Reviews like IGN are from people that aren’t that good at fighting games which keeps them from enjoying It. Where as call of duty mechanic wise is very easy to understand and be decent at

sry guys but imo mkx is dogshit mk9 and mk11 are just far better games and i get bored so quickly in mkx. the game tries to hard to be realistic and just isnt violent enough with the fatal blows just not being verry impactfull at all if you know what i mean

i just feel the minutes go by when i play mkx and its not my thing. its a good game for those who like it

The only issue I think mkx had at the time was delay based netcode which they did fix eventually, now I think it's perfect

MKX will always be the best when it comes to it's combos. Being able to grab someone mid-combo while they are in the air is the best, stylish way to end a combo string into a brutality.

I kinda disagree on a lot of points you make, especially that things without big flaws should always be a 10/10. Great things should be 10/10, flawless things should be 7-8/10 imo

Taking off points for story mode in a review is fine… unless you’re trying to act like you’re being objective. Or if there are huge flaws.

You nitpicked so hard when they’re doing a round house discussion on the game. Also an 8.4 is perfectly good for that game. The story didn’t come close to either MK9, MK11 or the new one so I get why they’d dock points because it doesn’t hold to the same standard the other games set. While I do commend them for not retelling old stories with this entry, you can’t automatically give them points for that.

i agree overall but to be fair mkx had one of the absolute worst stories i’ve ever sat through in my life. and there were many inconsistencies throughout it with character powers, certain people beating other ones, and just str8 up contradictions 😂 it was the worst video game story ever

I was one of the few that didn’t love it, because the annoying variations I never liked them just put it all in one character plus how good MK9 was this was some of a let down for me personally

didn't mkx have a terrible netcode on launch as well? Not saying it deserved such a low score but, I think the game had some issues among which is balance, but i wouldn't expect something like that to dock points in a review of this nateuse because while yes, it was unbalanced it was still fun as hell

I like the whole game! 9.8/10 from me! -0.2 for the Cassie beating Shinnok ending.

Story mode does absolutely have difficulty spikes, the game tries to make you fail so you have to retry at least once then would lower back down. Just replayed through it yesterday, love the continuing MK storyline!
