I believe there are four or five in SH1, depending on how you play and do or don't do things during the game.

There's also the UFO ending but do it when you complete all four or five endings.

You need to watch Police Squad. It didn't last long on TV but was painfully funny.

There are a few answers for why Bloober/Konami started with 2 for a remake. For sure, they said that they related more to the themes of this game over the others (which made it sound like they had no interest in the others, but I'm glad i was wrong). Another reason is that there was kinda, sorta, not really, a remake of 1 on the Wii and PS2 called Shattered Memories, however all it shares with the original is the set-up and the characters... everything else is different. Thirdly, some years back they remastered 2 & 3 in a HD collection, but fans were really disappointed in that release. So i imagine Konami (and Bloober whose previous games got mixed receptions) thought that remaking 2 properly would be a redemption for them, and for the most part it worked! And fourth, Silent Hill 1 and 3 have direct story connections. 2 is loosely connected to 4, but it both stands on it's own, and acts as a perfect introduction to the series.

We're all hoping that they'll announce DLC for this remake that was added to the original 2 in re-released versions, but we'll see! It's a pretty cool story add on, and I'm excited to see what Bloober would add to it imo.

I started watching your channel a couple months back. I was pretty depressed and coming and going trying to work through that and my mother passing last year. My husband is a great help of course but I watched your LiS True Colors series and found out you played GTA. Needless to say I ate those up. So funny and you play your way and its very genuine and I love that. And I started noticing I was dressing up more. And then I noticed I didnt want all the black I wear anymore. And here lately I seem to keep doing that and I just kinda feel even better. I think chilling and watching you has spread some really good vibes for me. So thank you very much is what Im saying.
