The Svbony SA401 Spotting Scope is Svbony's flagship birding scope which offers an impressive 25-75x zoom and a nice bright contrasty image courtesy of the large 100mm front element. The scope is well built with a mostly metal body. It has good quality components such as the front hood, focusing wheel and eyepiece. It comes with a 3 part neoprene armour which protects the scope from scratches and bangs. The scope comes with an inbuilt Manfrotto style foot allowing for mounting to a Manfrotto tripod head without the need for adding a plate which is handy.

The SA401 delivers a nice image right through the zoom range with contrast and sharpness being good all round even up to 75x. It's good on fringing too with almost no visible purple or green edges around contrasty parts of the image. The field of view seemed a bit tighter at 25x than I thought but it widens as you zoom in. Perhaps I'm referring to the size of the image as opposed to FOV here.

The scope weighs quite a bit at almost 3kg so it won't be as suited for some people on the move but great if you're travelling by car or if you have a sturdy backpack.

Overall, I think Svbony have done a good job of this scope and for the money, it's a great piece of kit.
