Motion sickness is one of the most common symptoms of vestibular migraine - but I didn't realize how this can also be an early indicator someone may have VM.

It's so common that one of the first questions my neurologist asked me was if I ever got carsick as a child during our initial evaluation.

We often get told migraines = bad headache, but in children migraine can present as "abdominal migraine"/ stomach upset or pain, motion sickness, and vertigo.

Into adulthood, some people may have pain with their attacks and some people may only have the symptoms of dizziness, instability, motion sickness, light or sound sensitivity, or feeling movement that's not there.

I think this is really important information because if a neuro asks if you've had a history of migraine, but you're only thinking of it as head pain and not all these other symptoms, it could be something that gets missed. It's important to be specific and include this kind of history when you meet with them.

8 years ago, I could not stand being the passenger in a car and felt unsafe driving. I sometimes look back on these videos and I'm so grateful for how far l've come with migraine treatment.
