Honestly I think they’re having the same issue that universal had for a while with the amount of screens they’re been relying on lately ngl, because why would I pay for tickets to just look at a screen or projection when that’s what most people do every day
Like give us physical sets and set pieces, animatronics, crazy effects, and tactile interactive aspects
What are you talking about? People will never get tired with marvel! Especially with such classic hits like new world order… and black panther 2
ОтветитьIt is not affordable at all!
Ответитьhow going to the cinema expensif ?, having a netflix account cost the same as going to the cinema
ОтветитьI agree there’s not much reason left to go to HS. Runaway train is a bone bruising POC compared to Great Movie Ride. Same for Star Wars and Dash.
ОтветитьUS movie studios also should reconsider the monopoly money they are throwing around. Some movies cost more than what some countries have as total budget, or higher costs for one movie than some countries entire year's worth of movies.
Ответитьfrankly they're even shortening some of their better rides. ToT used to be very fun with the wait room where you basically got to watch a mini Twilight Zone episode but they cut that out to make room for more people.
ОтветитьAs a show designer who has worked for both Disney and Universal I offer this insight. First, Universal never made excuses for what it was. it was a studio tour with attractions where you "ride the movies." Disney on the other hand was not that at all. However, when Universal started cutting in on their business, Disney decided that IP was the only way to go for the future. You can also see why Disney would do this. First, they have to PAY to develop a new IP for a motion picture. So...why PAY Imagineers to develop an entirely new IP (Small World, Space Mt. etc.) when you can just frame grab an in the can movie and tell the designers to fit these four images into a show building that doesn't exceed 25,000 sq. ft. You see? They have cut their "development costs" in half. The ET and Jurassic Park boat ride were attractions that used previous film IP as a jumping off point and offered a "new" adventure out of it. Then in an attempt to "follow what Disney was doing" Universal builds Harry Potter Forbidden Journey Ride which is nothing more than a book report. There's nothing original about it. Whenever I'm on that ride and cruise by the static plush spiders I'm reminded of this. So, in emulating each other, the theme park experience has turned into a scenario akin to running to a movie theater to see a movie you've already seen 20 times and know every line of dialogue. Lots of gooey frosting but entirely unsatisfying. Sigh.
ОтветитьOppenheimer THE RIDE!
ОтветитьI hate Harry Potter very much.
And yet I love Harry Potter land
To be honest Disney deserves the karma it gets
ОтветитьCalling Barbie “fresh, unique, and artistic” is funny lol
ОтветитьI personally loved GotG, not for the branding, but because I liked the Rockin Rollercoaster style of playing appropriate music as the train moves. However, I figure the experience is pretty inconsistent depending on what track you get.
I rode it twice last time I was at Epcot. The first time I got September, and it was one of the best roller coaster experiences of my life. The second, I got One Way Or Another and the whole thing felt kinda underwhelming, since the music just didn't fit the ride as well.
I think an attraction from Zootopia could be very well integrated into Animal Kingdom, but only if they took the education aspect seriously and incorporated that as well
ОтветитьI’m already tired of Pixar pier. It feels like the same thing over and over. While paradise pier I felt like was timeless. I don’t know how to explain it but that’s how it feels
ОтветитьIn the 1960s Hollywood gad the same crisis in the transformation from epic 5 hours monumental movies like Ben Hur and the rince-and-repeat Western/pirate adventures to the New Hollywood, european styled cinema (scorcese etc)
ОтветитьDisney's CEO is hurting Disney parks.
ОтветитьUniversal studios sells me movie experiences. I want to get farted on by Shrek or get shot at by the Terminator.
Disney sells me a fantastical fantasy beyond any particulars. It's more of a feeling of whimsical enjoyment. I don't care about their particular movies per say.
The more Disney attempts to change his branding to a movie base universal studios model the less unique Disney becomes and the less relevant Disney becomes to most people.
Things are defined by their essentials. And if the essential of Disney is just a carbon copy of a superior competitor, like universal studios, I will just go to universal studios for the better product.
Universal studios cannot sell me the fantasy Disney can and Disney cannot sell me the movie based experiences universal can.
I haven’t been to San Fransokyo at DCA yet, I fear that it may have been poorly done, but a well done, fully immersive San Fransokyo would be absolutely amazing!!! 😻
ОтветитьIt's more about the cost per person, than anything.
ОтветитьJust wanna call out the great cut from Louisa walking on the bridge to the bridge at Disney. It’s the little things.
ОтветитьDisney simply needs to go private, they need a board of directors that are creative and the current C suite has to go
ОтветитьI watch all of my movies at home. My 55" OLED B2 is good enough for me.
ОтветитьToo many people so little rides.
ОтветитьLol Galactic Starcruiser is finito.
ОтветитьStupid question but what is "IP"..?
ОтветитьI am so glad my daughters are no longer interested in Disney. They saw Inside Out 2 and were so disappointed. When we go to Orlando they rather go to Universal and do Harry Potter. Disney is resting on its history thinking that is going to keep turning a profit for them. After the way they did Kang I am no longer watching the MCU movies.
ОтветитьOh no another Disney Slap down…. No thanks
ОтветитьTo add on the whole Nintendo thing, One IP opportunity that Disney has squandered is their relationship with Hayao Miyazaki. For years Disney had rights to publish his movies and potentially turn those movies into awesome attractions given how fantastical yet grounded the themes in his movies are. Imagine a theme park built like the haunted amusement park in Spirited Away!
But from what I’ve read, Disney bungled the translations and editing of their releases of Miyazaki’s movies, which upset him greatly.
So much time and money put into this and all of this.
Way to talk stuff. Get off you back side and do something thing. Easy to talk when you have no skin in the game.
The spiderman ride was so underwhelming because it was so repetitive, who wants to fight spiderbots when you have a colorful rogues gallery. Did the imagineers just never picked up a comic book or watched a cartoon.
ОтветитьThey simply don’t make the movies as good as they used to TOO MUCH CGI!!!!
ОтветитьDecent video, but the closing 10 mins were really excellent.
ОтветитьI'm a 24-year-old so I never got to experience the original journey into imagination, until relatively recently when someone uploaded a recreation of the ride to VRChat, And it was stunning. It wasn't a perfect one-to-one recreation as some smaller effects were missing, but it was still an amazing experience and I'm happy that it's finally been revived in some form for people to experience.
ОтветитьMmm yes Disney thank you for the branded slop
ОтветитьI agree but walt used disneyland as a showcase for his movies and TV shows...so modern Disney isnt too far off.
ОтветитьIn my opinion teasers ruined movie releases
They're so desperate to have viral marketing online that I don't even recognize when a movie is actually in theaters
I'm so excessively numbed to corporate marketing that it doesn't even register that a movie is actually in theaters
I got so used to teasers and "oh this movie is probably coming out in like 2 years okay looks kinda cool" and then I realize it's gone like 6 weeks later already
So even movies I really wanna see like Godzilla minus One it left theaters before I could even realize it was gone because I'm so numb to every marketing push
I think choosing to incorporate their more recent movies in the parks will be a massive failure. These things have no staying power, their movies have been flop after flop. Big mistake.
ОтветитьOh ok, you don’t want to see Indian Jones so it’s bad, gotcha
ОтветитьEvery ride at universal is themed to a movie or hollywood and either the areas have a general theme with rides each themed to their own movies in their own buildings, or are heavily themed with every ride sharing that theme (ie harry potter or doctor suess land) when you go into the men in black ride, it doesnt feel like it was plopped in there cause it kinda fits the theme, but because its its own thing. Compare that to tomorrow land where you have timeless attractions from a cohesive land and rides from movies with their own unique theming kinda shoehorned in.
ОтветитьDisneyland is the perfect example how to have the best of both worlds. Most of their lands are original themes.with IP's sprinkled throughout, enough to add to the experience but not enough to detract from it while still getting the main purpose of the land. Then they only have one IP themed land in Galaxy's Edge, but since its tucked off in its own corner of the park, it's not an eyesore/park cohesion killer.
Then again, this is just my opinion, but Disneyland is the only Disney park I confidently can say is up as one of my favorite parks in the world.
Edit: Apply everyrhing I said to Animal Kingdom as well
I swear, half the reason Avatar Land exists is because Disney saw young adults talking about Avatar the Last Airbender and thought we were all talking about Avatar the Movie lol. Now AtLA is a series with staying power. If they made an AtLA land, that would draw some crowds.
ОтветитьAs a massive Star Wars fan I think galaxy’s edge is super disappointing I wish there were different areas based around different planets like a Endor area a Kamino area a Naboo area etc
ОтветитьI feel like streaming is flawed in the sense that it doesn't generate FOMO like theatres used to. If people can stream a film or series whenever they want at their own convenience, it clearly effects hype, release date viewer numbers, and the relevancy of the media itself. The sense of urgency is removed when you can tell yourself I might watch it next week or a month from now, taking maybe as long years later to finally get around to it. I personally prefer dredging the 50-s thru 80's for any & every film ever made. With that priority, total shite like F7 gets sidelined by culturally important films I haven't seen yet, and uninspired drek like The Hangover comes off as remakes of films like City Slickers.
ОтветитьJust recently I was thinking of going to Disney world for the first time, but seeing how many rides are now based on ips made me not want to. I wanted to go because I wanted to go to this legendary world's fair-esque park that's a fixture of american culture. But, I'm not really a fan of any Disney movies, so if Disney world is now aimed at hardcore disney fans, then I have no reason to. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of people having the same thought process as me
ОтветитьCould not disagree more with your critique of Galaxy's Edge. It's a masterclass in immersive storytelling and architectural design, being every bit as detailed and immersive as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Rise of the Resistance is also one of the best Disney park attractions ever made in terms of technological achievement and immersive storytelling, which leads to good reason as to why over in Disneyland it always has the longest wait time. I anticipate that Galaxy's Edge over the years is going to age just fine, especially when the sequel trilogy becomes nostalgic and starts developing its fans like what happened to the prequel trilogy. (I still am a believer that TFA and TLJ are the best of Star Wars cinema, and you can't convince me otherwise. TROS really does suck, though)
ОтветитьEpcot was my favorite park before its focus on culture was sidelined in favor of a watered down Magic Kindom 2
ОтветитьI used to like going to EPCOT for a break from Disney branding. Now it's everywhere diminishing the experience. Disney forgot that not every attraction needs to be associated with an IP.
Ответить
