Victim Avenges His Younger Self | Michael Shannon | Law & Order SVU

This is the episode that made me a Michael Shannon fan for life.

Avery reuniting with Kimber and their child is one of the most wholesome scenes i've ever seen in this show, if not in any other series I've ever watched.

Michael Shannon is a amazing actor. He gave a great performance in this episode.

Decan and Avery are foils to each other. Both were molested and both have sons, but while Decan allowed his pain to consume him and turn him into a monster that preyed on other boys including his own son, Avery fought against his pain and seeked justice, while also putting his son first by being willing to give him up so there would be no chance he could hurt him.

Deacon is a real man in this episode he put love and his hurt aside to get justice

The differences between Avery and Deacon is Deacon spread his pain to others including his son while Avery assured he wouldn’t allow his son to endure the same trauma. Deacon in the end choose to become like his abuser while Avery choose to be different for his family.

To serve and protect but more people die then they protect lolol also all the laws they break while pretending to be good guys lololol

The scene with the baseball caps was intense! It made he sick 😖😣

SVU is forever woke and so far down the left path that people have forgotten that is was a very good show at one time. The same thing happened with The Simpson's unfortunately.

Im glad Zod was able to make peace with Superman and live life on earth.

The amount of well known actors that were unknown at the time whilst rewatching these episodes, just lets you know how dope this series truly is

Monsters aren't born they are made by other monsters. The way to stop the cycle of abuse is not become a monster. Not let the hate, anger, and frustrations consume you into becoming a monster. Avery and Deacon had a chance to deal with their negative emotions and the trauma they endured. Deacon let the all consume him where he continue the cycle of abuse towards other boys while Avery was the opposite. He didn't want his son to endure what he had to go through. But now at least he can break the cycle.

Olivia arrsting that lady for larceny would absolutely not have held up. She had zero evidence the guy in jail was unaware of it, and the fact she was deposting money in his prsioner fund was a pretty clear indicstor he was aware. Hate when these shows just act crazy smh

Deacon was so hurt by what happened he just wanted to feel like other people could feel his pain... Avery was so utterly terrified of the idea that he could make someone feel that pain that he was willing to never meet his son to avoid that possibility. It really is hothey deal with the pain.

This is one of those episodes I remember very well from way back. Fine acting.

Criminals need to be scared again.

Though I in no way condone what he did, I can't help but pity him hearing this. If he'd just been able to open up to someone and get help, maybe he wouldn't have turned into a monster himself.

That was a twisty one! Kept changing the answer on us! Good summary of the case. And I love Michael Shannon. He’s awesome in everything I have ever seen him in.

Finally Zod has a family

Being a victim myself this thought kind of hit me before my first was born. I never had told anyone about what happened to me cause “as a man, you stay silent” and I hid it for 17 years and when my first was born and I held him for the first time…one of the assaults flashed back into my head and felt so real and vivid. I could see the room, smell the room…I broke down so hard and begged god to not let it happen to my baby. Then the mother of my kids asked what’s wrong after the drugs wore off, I broke down again and she was the first person I got to share my trauma with. I live to make sure nothing ever happens like this to my kids nor anyone else’s. I would report or handle it myself in a heartbeat.

Does the episode tells us what happened next? Because Deacon mentioned he molested hundreds of boys, but the show doesn’t tell us if the squad reached out to any of the victims so they can heal from the experience.

It’s good in a way he stayed away from his kid but it’s not something that happens simply bc of being molested it’s a choice. I have a son and that’s my biggest fear is for him to be touched or molested or raped bc I was molested as a child and I’m always checking him and it’s my biggest fear for him to get hurt and I couldn’t do anything I rarely leave him alone unless it’s with his dad or my mother and I’m always checking him when I get him back
