The telegrams read-aloud are great (the original text messages)... You can tell they've been composed and sent by semi-wealthy people, because they are lengthy, including all the formal foo-foo shit (money is no object), but they are still abbreviated (to save money).
Aunt Dahlia and Uncle Tom are always very nice to young Bertram, and they treat him like a son; she is not foolish with her money, although, she doesn't mind spending a wee bit extra just to let Bertie know that she is not pleased with the company of Spink-Bottle and his newts.
When Bertie told his aunt (after she openly admited that's it was Jeeves' intervention she sought) that HE was the man for the job, and then I saw the face she made (as if; "oh, of course, YOU are in charge of Jeeves, and I must let you believe it"), I remembered how "layered" these stories are... I don't remember who signed Jeeves' paychecks, and I don't think Bertie Wooster ever knew either... I always got the feeling that Jeeves was a bit of a "private eye" for the larger family, and that he actually worked for the aunts, rather than Bertie himself.
ОтветитьThe Bassett woman!
ОтветитьHugh Laurie's suits, hats and gloves are beautiful!

ОтветитьEveryone should have an Aunt Dahlia, especially when played by the late, great Brenda Bruce!!

ОтветитьHugh Laurie was so much better in this than that stupid doctor show.
ОтветитьBrilliant!
ОтветитьI love this series ❤️
ОтветитьNOTICE, how some of the guests agonize over giving up eating. NOW for many people, the commercial food industry has destroyed the gourmet experience. A bland uniformity that by
undistinguish food processing has cause people to function only on an "hunger instinct" by swallowing food in whole pieces and "hoovering" by vacuuming their lot serving lke animals at slop. Food should be a delightful experience, every bite a taste sensation. People must experience good food from childhood to be able to distinguish slight variation in taste and texture from common commercial products. A wholewide world of food processing has made most people unable to distinguish the taste of gourmet food as opposed to sedation of animal hunger. Rarely do people rave about the teste of food as distinguish from supperphcal presentation, quantity and satisfaction of hunger. (Except, maybe to be disingenuously polite. And, for the most part, the host or hostess accepts the false commitment not knowing any better.) Thank you "Jeeves and Wooster" again for a show of society.
Oh Michel ripper was in this he was the barman in a lot of the well known films
ОтветитьThe Drones Club members seem to all be candidates for the Upper Class Twit Of The Year Award ( a la Monty Python).
ОтветитьI am very fond of the series and Fry and Laurie(though Stephen Fry is too young to play Jeeves), I still prefer the books. The series episodes tend to be a mish mash of scenes from the books with added bits and the production design is too perfect.
Ответить"This white mess jacket is brand new!"
" I assumed it had got into your wardrobe by mistake , sir.Or else that it had been placed there by your enemies."
"I'll have you know I bought this in Cannes."
"And wore it , sir?"
Absolutely brilliant
🤣
The last scene is worth diamonds.
Ответить'Oh Bertie life would so much simpler if we were newts.'
Ответитьpro·pin·qui·ty = proximity
ОтветитьContinuity edit the lapel rose, not there, close up it's there, long shot, it's gone again. 🌹
ОтветитьI tried to read wodehouse when growing up but the writing style is not for me. These shows made them bearable
ОтветитьI so feel for young Mr. Glossop.
ОтветитьWhat happened to his parents? He only has aunts?
ОтветитьWodehouse and Thurber are my lifesavers. Laurie and Fry are the best comedians ever ❤
ОтветитьAhhhh... the British Establishment in all its insipid glory!
ОтветитьDelightful!
Ответитьfun show. thanks
Ответитьthis is from right ho jeeves people
ОтветитьMy parents had Wodehouse books in their home library, so I have loved the stories since childhood. Thank you for posing this series. Fry and Laurie are wonderful in the roles.
ОтветитьWhat ho!
ОтветитьOMG the eye roll when she tells Jeeves to pack Bertie's bags. Stephen Fry is a delight. 😊
Ответить"You seem somewhat pipped" 😂
ОтветитьCan someone please explain the part about the change in the opening scene?
ОтветитьWatching these videos is the only thing keeping me out of the madhouse right now. Signed, a despairing American
Ответить“He well known in Lincolnshire of distributor of school prizes.”
😂😂😂
What if there hadn't been a P.G. Wodehouse?? It doesn't bear thinking about.. the mind starts to cauterize instantly..
Fry and Laurie will go down as the only worthwhile duo to ever play those roles.. Sanity is the byproduct of reading Wodehouse, and laughter.
I'm well aware that this is acting BUT how can you put up with relation like this "ICK"!!
NEVER been that close to relatives like that.
