Rega Fono MM Mk 5 Vs Yamaha A S500 Built in Phono Sound Test

The Rega does sound clearer and a bit more natural, it might just be me, but the difference is not as much as I would have expected given the money the Rega costs. Might just be the You Tube effect on the music quality and not doing the Rega justice. I have a separate Pro-ject phono amp, however I use the one built in to my Denon amp, as whilst they sound a bit different I would not say the Project is better. I probably need to spend a bit more money to hear any real improvement. I see the the Yamaha has a new home. Great Vid again thank you 👍👍

Yamaha is clearer, more natural, Rega is blurry, no bass definition.

Very rarely do i hear any difference with these you tube tests. All theze tests are very subjective , depends on your hearing😂. As an old boy my hearing is probably not at its best.

You are aware that rega fono preamp are designed for rega turntable in mind right..
So why are you using one with your turntable?

No offence but your speakers or the TT can be a limiting factors.

I choose the Yamaha, the vocals sound more natural and detailed. Otherwise the sound is very similar.

His system is not at the level to distinguish the differences in phono stages.

Great test. The Yamaha build in phono stage sounds surprisingly better!!!!! More clarity and more live transparent sound
