Pros and Cons for living in Danville California- What people won't tell you

Blackhawk plaza is a ghost town and not one good place to eat.

Plaza is a ghostown and the “theater” has been closed for years…a new one was supposed to take its place, but nothings happening…..most shops and restaurants have closed.

When I lived around that area it was well known the Danville pd targeted the bars watching people come out bars and immediately pull them over for dui

I lived in an ADU up in the hills of Danville for a year. There are only two things to do in Danville: hiking/mtn biking the trails and dining at restaurants. Hiking is great and free and dining is expensive there. I hiked almost every day up to San Damiano Retreat and to the top of the mountain. The scenery is beautiful, especially when it is green and flooded with orange poppy flowers. I would say that it is mainly a town to raise a family if you can afford to live there. If I didn't have the daily hiking with the beautiful scenery and wildlife, I would have been bored out of my mind in Danville. It's landlocked, so you drive so many miles and there isn't much to see or do unless you like going to large plazas with department stores like Target, Whole Foods, and TJ Maxx. You drive a little longer to Livermore and there isn't much to see except more large plazas. Walnut Creek is ten miles away but there isn't much to do there either and it too has no nightlife. That Blackhawk shopping complex was rather dead whenever I went there, but it is good for walking and hiking up the stairs, enjoying the view of the water flowing, and seeing so many amusing ducks. The museum has the most impressive collection of vintage automobiles, including five 1950-1960s Ferraris, but one visit is enough. The movie theater is now closed. Also, drive and walk carefully when in Danville because no one uses their turn signals and some run stop signs. People joke about the turn signals and one woman gave me the finger and yelled "F.U!" when I honked at her for not signaling at an intersection. One good point is that if you're into automobiles, there are classic car meetups on the main street.

Blackhawk plaza is a ghost town…..I live next door and what’s left are sub standard Blackhawk grille and a couple of other rip off places…..theater just closed….

Best place to raise a family in SF Bay Area. Lived there over 20 years. Correct in terms of zero nightlife.

Does Danville still feel more “spacious and new” compared to cities on the peninsula like San Mateo, Redwood City?

Any paint work for a small independent contractor in Danville? I'm a professional painter of 25 years but for the past 3 years have been property and project manager for a 5 story professional office building in Arkansas and was curious about Danville.
