#4 is my favorite! It’s amazing the cool stuff you can do. BUT! Unless you have a good memory, write down what you implement. My iTunes playlist was always playing when I came home and there was no IFTTT routine for it! As it turned out I had created a Routine for that. There are many ways to do stuff so KEEP TRACK! And above all like was stated in #4, HAVE FUN!
ОтветитьIn my opinion, automations are way better than barking commands into the ether.
ОтветитьPersonal information leeks?
ОтветитьUpvote because of the pickle rick in the background.
Also, the rest of the video is awesome.
I LOVE your delivery of information - you make it fun to listen to a whole new language (for me tech stuff is a foreign language). Also, your information is simple and easy to comprehend. Thanks for doing these videos!
ОтветитьHey Matt, Thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm for Smart Home technology. I have learned a lot from your videos. Have you done a comparison of smart thermostats? I wonder how the Nest compares to the Ecobee. Your comment about Works with Nest maybe going away gave me pause. What does that mean? Will Nest products become obsolete as a result? Thanks!
ОтветитьHow can you link various machines in your home to say your Google home system? I am thinking about washing machine, refrigerator, gate locks remote from the front door etc
ОтветитьTransition sounds to loud.
Ответитьyou really been real helpful on my road to making my house smart
ОтветитьApple called, they want that walled garden back...
ОтветитьI had actually done a red alert setup in my home, it would dim all the lights, turn on and flash all my LED strips red, turn on and switch the input of my amp and start playing the red alert sound from voyager. It was great, but my wife hated it lol
ОтветитьI am looking to install wireless cameras and doorbell ( eufy) to my new house and I would also like to install a system that where I can turn on my front door lights and maybe an inside light or 2. I would also like to use the nest hub screen. What would be the best way to do this and be able to add smart items down the road. is there one app for all??
ОтветитьHi, thanks for the interesting video.
How exactly did you get your hue bulbs to flash when your laundry is done?
I know this an old video, but you mention Stringify. Now that its out of service, I would love to hear what you are using now.
Maybe a new video ? Or if you already have could you post a link to the video ?
Smart homes definitely save money. My wife loves having scents in the house but running them 24 hours waste money. We now attach them to a smart plug to only turn on when we're in the house. We have saved TONS of cash! Simple change saved us hundreds over the years.
ОтветитьNice video again, I have a question about smart home central stations (hope you know what i mean) I was looking into Athom homey, because it should support almost every protocol there is, but the downside is that it does not have very good google assistent support. You have to say "ok google, ask homey to". My question is do you know a good smart home central station that is not to hard to use (nice clear interface) and has good google assistent intergration? Kind regards from the netherlands, Sander
ОтветитьHey there, another device for you that I've found very handy, my Rachio WiFi Sprinkler Controller. Was easy to install and replace the old school controllers, ties into local weather reports for watering intelligence, has all kinds of features to save on water costs.
ОтветитьHow did you set up the light to go off when the washer or dryer are done? I can't tell you how many times I have had to rewash the same load of laundry more than once, so this actually would be incredibly helpful for me
ОтветитьQ: with california turning off power in my area - I run into the issue of losing connectivity between my phone and the few items I do have automated. With that in mind - how reliable are the various hubs at power recovery? Am I gong to have to recover from a back up or have to reprogram?
ОтветитьDo you have a video that covers how to link motion detector and smart switches to smartthing hub?
ОтветитьMaybe a research idea that would be cool is to see if it’s possible to have a Phillips bulb pulse if someone is calling you on the echo show, especially for the hearing impaired. Just thought I would throw that idea out there. Great production.
ОтветитьThank you for the video. But honestly i cant imagine i need al this "automation". Looki have a pretty big family. And im sorry but the system cannot just know that if i turn on tv i want the light to dim. This isnt the case becouse others probably need that light. Maybe smart electricity doesn't make things worse, but why to pay for it? Sorry just can't get it. And i m very techy guy. Im a SW Engineer, worked for some of the major companies like Intel
ОтветитьStill waiting for the automation ideas
ОтветитьI simply don't want "cloud" based automation.
ОтветитьOne of the big problems i see with 99% of smarthome devices is reliability on intermet and external clouds.. in addition i dont want to invite big brother into my home. I want a system that has all the possible features but no data leaves the house.
ОтветитьReally good video! The KISS tip can't be stated enough. When trying to get buy in from others in the house this is essential, especially with lights. My latest and possibly best investment has been Hue Smart Buttons in high traffic areas. My wife and I just couldn't get along with exclusively using voice control since it creates effort and friction vs flipping a switch.
I think the future is a combination of motion sensors and time (or temperature or lux) based rules to trigger lighting heating and plugs. I've had a bad experience with a Hue Motion Sensor which was disappointing, but hopefully was due to a faulty unit. I think that they're key to a fully automated home though, followed by smart switches, followed by voice control, followed by app use.
What’s the back ground track your playing? This video was very helpful
ОтветитьAre you related to Tom Cruise?
ОтветитьIs it possible to automate my smart plug lights when my zwave Yale smart lock opens?
ОтветитьThanx for the vid. Your funny.
ОтветитьAny shortcuts automations ideas ?
ОтветитьAutomating my home in 2019/2020 and it's going pretty good except for the software side: IFTTT seems extremely limited and Stringify app you mentioned doesn't seem to exist anymore. Also, selection of 20 amp smart switches seem to be practically nonexistant.
ОтветитьThis video was sponsor by the most expensive of their branch of cost Philips hue.
ОтветитьPlease stop making your transition music so much louder than the rest of your video
Ответитьtry home assistant. not only it will integrate all mainstream devices (also some others) but it has plenty of integrations like tesla. Also can use your smart speakers as output.
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьConfused on where to go with the fact that I have in some cases 3 of the same of each item found by Alexa. Have hue bulbs, hue bridge, logitech hub, wink2, and smartthings. Also one contact sensor keeps saying not responsive. I think it might be a distance problem to the nearest repeating zigbee device but not sure.
ОтветитьI would like to hear your opinion on flo by moen and how it can be integrated into smart life.
ОтветитьMusic tooooo LOUD~~~~~~
ОтветитьSo far, I'm trying to use Alexa for everything. I have some lights I can turn on and off and change color and added Cameras. The Ring Doorbell cam works well with alexa and Zmodo IP outdoor cams work pretty well. I'm trying to figure out how to have all the cameras and Ring Cam cycle through, maybe every 15 sec on my Fire TV - I can only get it to work with showing one at a time. I'm looking at IFTTT but not haveing luck just yet.
ОтветитьThe music is so loud! I have to lower the volume around 5 times. Other than that, good video
ОтветитьThanks for the video, I'm physically challenged, I recently got the amazon Echo dot 3 and have been adding smart plugs and smart switches to help make it safer around the house.
ОтветитьYou're funny
ОтветитьNot paying for IFTTT! I realize this video was created before they started charging.
Ответитьnice video, good editing, but bro can you please normalize the audio volume. you don't have the loudest voice and then when your cut-scene music comes in, the volume is like 2-3x -- so I need to rush to mute / turn off the video. thanks
ОтветитьYour videos are so enjoyable
ОтветитьHoly shit the audio levels are loud with that annoying techno short
ОтветитьHow much energy the use while on/off on average? How many watts per hour and one year? Smart outlets completely cut off power to whatever is connected right?
Ответить
